Could you please share what a typical menu day looks like for you? I am 12 postop and having a hard time eating 3 meals and 2 snacks plus fluids. Thank you

I "feel your pain" I'm 6 months out and had the same non feeling, however things did get better around post-op month 4. 1st thing, stop the cracker snacks, those are empty calorie carbs. I started adding in a snack of protein chicken broth. Either already made powder, or unflavored protein in chicken stock or low sodium bouillon cube. Or try some almonds or walnuts, or even a few baby carrots if crunch will satisfy you as long as you can tolerate and/or your plan allows this. It seems there are several different dietary plans out there!

I also find I feel more satiety drinking plain water 15 min before a meal then occasionally throughout the day. I then use flavored water to meet my liquid requirements. it is imperative you stick to the rules of logging everything you eat, taking small bites and chewing everything to death. My plan allows drinking right up until eating and waiting until 30 min. after. I tried the plain water thing after I read some posts from vets. who encouraged adding flavors to water because it changed the water's surface tension making it some how easier to flow through. I thought the opposite effect may help me out, it did.

Your brain plays a big part in this too!! Don't let head hunger fool you, if you think you're hungry grab a drink 1st. Most times you head thinks your hungry, not your pouch.

I hope some of these ideas help. Good luck on your weight loss journey!!

I have never thought of "protein chicken broth... unflavored protein in chicken stock". I love the idea because it's warm and always satisfying... I used to love my cups of broth when I was doing opti and that always soothed the head hunger. I'll make a batch and put it in small cups for work snacks. That's a great idea, thank you!

I forgot to mention about the broth... Don't heat it over 130 degrees F!!! The protein powder will clump. If you try to mix the clumps out in a blender, it gets frothy and yucky. Otherwise it's really good.

Absolutely everything Kat said.

I worked with a counsellor weekly. I also gave up flour, sugar, bread, potatoes, rice, crackers, corn, lima beans, noodles and pasta. I did not touch any of them. The white carbs are what cause hunger cravings and also what cause weight gain.

Don't ever bring crackers into the house. Give them up now. Don't eat breads. Whole wheat is not OK. Only eat lean protein and non-starchy vegetables. You are wasting your surgery by doing what you are doing. This is a once in a lifetime chance. By six months you will be able to eat more than you did before surgery.

To be successful you have to learn to eat the foods that will get you lean and keep you there.

Wow, you're determination and success are amazing, you removed all those carbs !!! I agree about getting them out of the house, the temptation in way too strong.

I can't add anything to what others said. It was a lot of great advice.

As to how to do that, we each need to figure out how. But you need to find some way to stop this behavior NOW. Stop it! If you don't, fast, you are going to screw up the best opportunity you have to lose this weight. This is the easiest it will ever be, by far.

I wouldn't bother giving you a kick in the pants if I didn't care. You are just way too early out to have these kinds of behaviors.

Good luck.

just a reminder from your first post

I'm ready for the challenges, I welcome them as a path to my success.

I'm ready to stop feeling ashamed and unfamiliar when I look in the mirrow.

I'm ready to stop wearing variations of black shirts, pants, jackets, shoes, hats...

I'm ready to give my kids the mom they deserve and the life I want

I'm ready to take 'me' seriously and put 'me' at the top of the care list

I'm ready to make the most of this opportunity that has been given to me.

Excellent reminder. I'm going to reinvest some time to planning and re-reading the rules.

Thank you!
