The trick with snacking is to realize what is head hunger and what is actual hunger. You're still pretty new out, so it's possible that your hunger signals haven't regulated yet, so it's likely difficult for you to tell the difference right now.

Here are some questions to ask yourself: How soon after your meals are you looking for a snack? Are you following your program's recommendations as far as amounts? Are you focusing on dense protein and limiting slider foods? If you feel you're hungry soon after eating, see if you can wait it out or focus on another activity--oftentimes I find I'm bored and if I focus on something else, the urge to eat goes away. For someone with an intact stomach, drinking some water is recommended, but since water goes right through our pouches, that may not help you too much.

Congratulations on your 70 lbs so far!

A no snacking plan would never work for me. I eat five or six small meals a day, so never hungry enough to snack.

This is what I do too. I also factor snacks into my calorie budget and try to choose healthy snacks!

I snack constantly. It keeps my blood sugar steady and me happy. Your doctor is an idiot.

Focus on healthy fats, high protein and low carbs, and you can eat all freakin' day non-stop.

I eat by the clock. Have set eating times for yourself. No eating in between.

Hunger is not an emergency. Wait until your next scheduled eating time. After a while, it becomes habit.

If I were to follow my dr's plan, I'd be eating 150 carb grams a day. Your dr's plan is a guideline. You have to figure out what works for you. Good luck!

I eat by the clock.

I always measure and use a scale.

I can never trust my eyes, judgement or my stomach. They are all liars conspiring to get me back to 347 lbs.

I think you can now see there are two camps in this question: the snack all day camp, and the eat by the clock camp. Neither is wrong, if it works for them. But you have to figure out which one works for you, and I am sorry to say you have to figure it out without your doctor's or nutritionist's help, since every RNY patient is different.

I will say that snack all day has worked for me for nearly 6 years. But it doesn't work for everyone certainly.
