Good morning OH peeps! I have a meeting in a few minutes so a quick entry here...
QOTD - I am finally able to drink water again, but only from a water bottle that has been frozen half full then topped off with cold water. I have a few bottles I rotate to always have freezing cold water. Some days I can easily get in 100 oz, other days it's a struggle to get in 50. I also drink coffee and tea every day and occasionally grape flavored water as well. If I'm just not able to drink enough regular liquids, sometimes I will drink broth.
b-coffee w/ heavy cream and SF hazelnut syrup
b-2 hard boiled egg
l-smoked ham and dill Havarti cheese
d-jalapeno sausage and a couple bites of SF coleslaw
v/l good
e- treadmill tonight
Have a great day!!

REVISION 4/10/23 - HW 240 SW 225 CW 164 GW 155
Good morning Menu family. I'm in late today because I had my DEXA scan this morning. I have to say that I'm quite disapointed with the results. That's not to say that I'm doing horribly, but I'm just not progressing as I should be. This is because I stopped working out last July and it's really showing in my results.
I'm going to make a separate post about the results to get feedback, but overall, it's pretty self explanatory.
19 months since surgery
B: Cinnamon Raisin bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee 1 cream 1 splenda. (I know, I'm bad)
L: not sure, I didn't pack because my morning was weird with this appointment. I'm going to grab something from the Deli downstairs, I'll make it healthy.
D: Left over pork loin. It was delicious last night.
S: nothing planned, I didnt bring anything.
no totals yet, I'll update as I go today. This is not a good way to plan.
Have a great day everyone!
Edit because I'm always forgetting the QOTD: I am horrible at getting my fluids in. I'm really trying to push more liquids, but I know I'm on the always on the verge of dehydration. THanks for this QOTD, it will make me push myself today.
I find that, during the day when I come to read, and I see something posted about drinking, I magically grab my glass and take a few sips
Oh, and at work, I use a straw (I know, some docs don't agree), and that also helps me drink more here. If it's out of a sports bottle, I'm good, but a regular glass slows me down for some reason without that straw.
Just come here when you need a break and start chugging every time you see the word water/drink!

Good morning all -
QOTD - I went back and looked at Myfitnesspal too see how much water I was getting in on average. I get between 90 - 100 ounces per day. Most of it is plain ice water, but I do get at least one 20 ounce bottle of no calorie, no sugar flavored water each day. I seem to do better at work than I do at home, that is something that I have to work on. I use a Contigo 20 ounce thermos. I fill it with ice and fill the thermos out of a water bottle that I fill up with cold water from a water fountain. (I fill with ice at 6:30 and refill with ice around 2, so for someone who worked an 8 hour shift the ice would last all day.)
Day 9 of 14 of Pre-op Diet - (I have averaged a one pound loss per day since starting pre-op diet)

Hello Menu Friends!
Was out yesterday fighting the good fight at the Texas capital lobbying against the 'bathroom bill' that is coming up for vote here. Took my transgender son with me and we were both spent by the time we got home. There was a whole lot of angst, hate, and rudeness mixed with tons of transgender folks supporting each other, other families with their transkids that were fantastic, and a few amazingly supportive law makers. Specificity we were welcomed into Senator John Witmire's office with open arms. The Senator visited with my son and a young transgender girl (11 years old) for a long while and let the little one sit at his desk. We were all glad that was our last stop for the day as it really cheered the kids up.
QOTD: Real talk?? I am ALWAYS dehydrated. I hate the taste of water and it makes me nauseous. I have tried all sorts of temperatures and flavorings...nothing helps. I talked to my surgeon about it and discussed if coffee counts. He approved it and said, "It is fluid...not ideal but it is something." So...pretty much all day and evening I drink coffee. About 80 ounces per day. I rarely drink anything else. Cue the "you are probably going to die" advice.
Menu: B: 1 cup homemade Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup no sugar added homemade banana nut granola, and 1/2 cup grapes ("The Usual"); L: Bean-free chili; S: Apple; D: 1 1/2 cups Low Carb beef cabbage soup; ES: Chobani Simply 100 "Crunch"; Totals: Cal 1046; Protein 99; Carbs 86; Fat 43
Accountability: I think I wanted to toss my Guy off a cliff this weekend. I got over it and he survived but I have been a bit 'short tempered' shall we say? I think I about to get through the worst of the moody part of quitting smoking. When he was home he would go outside to smoke and come back in and all I could smell was cogarettes. I was both nauseated and jealous...and more than a little cranky. I found myself several times thinking the old thoughts of, "I will just go smoke! It is his fault!! That will show him." Then I would take a deep breath...think about personal responsibility...calm myself and think about my heart and my health and how those are my job to keep safe, no one else....and did NOT smoke. Still smoke free! Phew! I am hoping it gets easier from here on out. The Chantix is killing my pouch...I'm considering calling the doctor to ask if I can discontinue it cold or do I need to step down dosage. It is miserable.
Binge evening last night. Was rough. I wanted to smoke. I was emotionally distraught about the legislative issues and bigotry we had faced all day. During the day I had eaten a carb heavy menu because I was out and buying things. A Starbucks breakfast sandwich, a sandwich box lunch with chips, a banana. All higher carbs than my usual. For dinner I tried a new recipe...manicotti. It was delicious but again...carby. My Guy was home to visit but left to head back to the city around 11 pm. After that, all I could think about was food and sleep was impossible. Every time I started to sleep I would have nightmares.
I forced myself to track everything I ate. The list, after 10 pm before sunrise, included... 2 slices of Oatwheat bread toasted with 2 tbs peanut butter and 3 tbs low sugar jam; 1 large orange; 1 small grapefruit; 1 Chobani Simply 100; 1 pk of four cheese cracker sandwich things stolen from my son's lunch stash; and 2 handfuls of Lay's Chips (left behind my my Guy from his weekend visit). I ended up at 2586 calories for the day, 259 carbs .
This morning I weighed 125.0, up from 122.6 and holding steady. My hope is that this will level back off and I can go back to holding at 122-123 but it is not like I don't know what caused it. I am thankful I didn't have anything worse. Keeping the house 'clean' really helps. Grapefruit? A whole one...just peeled it at 2:30 am and ate it raw. Geezus. I sent the rest of the chips to school with my son this morning. It is a new day...a new day. One day at a time.
