I had a modified gastric bypass RNY surgery in 2009. There were problems right away following surgery. I was first released from the hospital I believe within 3 to 4 days, all was well. The evening of the day I was released I was back in the emergency room due to nonstop vomiting of bile. From that point on I was in the hospital for 6 weeks. Had a feeding tube etc. Horrible experience. After being released I followed all instructions. I did not have good follow up because the doctor who did my surgery closed his office prior to my next office visit after being released by hospital. I did well , lost weight from 265 to 160, however my health started to fail soon after the first year. Hypoglycemia, constant nausea, no vitamin absorption, weight gain, lethargic ALL the time, brain fog, battle with zero blood plaetlets. To sum this long story up, I am looking for medical professionals that would be willing to take my case and help me feel better. It has been so debilitating. Ive been in a catch 22, I love to be active but finding that when I do any exercising, Im thrown into a bout of hypoglycemia even when I try to prepare with protein. Every time I eat I am nauseated. I have just about given up on finding a doctor willing to delve into all of this long enough and diligent to help me. If anyone in the Spokane area knows of a knowledgeable doctor in this field, I would greatly appreciate the information.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions, Cherie

Even if you find a doctor, you are the one who has to do the work. Nausea, hypoglycemia, weight gain are very likely from too much sugar and carbs. I am not sure what a modified RNY is, but guessing that more intestine was removed than usual.

A good person to consult with is Vitalady. She can recommend vitamins and supplements that should help with absorption. She had a modified RNY and learned how to get her health back and she loves to help others. I would get on her site and contact her for help.

Wow, I'm sorry you are going through all that. I have no information on Doctors in your area, I'm on the East Coast, but I wanted to wish you the best of luck and hope you find someone good. Maybe your Primary Doctor can refer you to someone? Hang in there, hugs
