My first large stall, Ideas to break it

Hello Everyone,

I'm 5 .5 months out of my surgery, everything was going good, down 87 pounds. But last 2week I lost one then gained 3lbs, I try to only weigh my self once a week. I've been consuming around 800 calories and my protein is usually around 50 to 70 grams. I do drink water about 64oz a day. I've been doing weights at the gym and the elliptical I've been going 3-2 days a week. So any ideas that I can do, I have noticed my carbs are around 50 grams daily, probably the problem. Thanks for the input.

I'm only 7 weeks out but I'm on here a lot. Please take what I say with a grain of salt. I would say you need to look at your carb number as that seems high. We haven't seen the vets for a week now but it's been recommended to me to keep my carbs under 20. You also possibly need more protein. I think 60 is the minimum. If you replace some of your carbs with protein that will help.

Also, I had a mini stall 4 weeks ago and now it's been a week of no weight loss. Sometimes I think stalls just happen and we have to ride them out. Anyway, I hope someone with more experience can help you out. Good luck!

If you are confident in your logging, and aren't missing any bites or sips that would add more calories and carbs, I suggest staying the course.

I highly doubt you were able to over eat enough to gain 3 pounds in one week. It's most likely fluids and/or bathroom issues.

Yes your carbs are a bit higher than a lot people in loss mode, but not everyone. If you want to shave some off it will probably get the scale moving, but I'd give what you're doing at least another week.

there are so many other factors that will affect the number on the scale. Things like, sodium levels, constipation, how quickly you've lost weight to date, etc.

my newbie opinion is stick with it a while longer. See what another week brings.

then if nothing's changed look at cutting carbs, and upping protein.

good luck!

I am about 6.5 months out, so not an expert, but I would up the protein a bit and lower the carbs. Keep at it and the scale will move in the right direction once again!

I never did ultra-low carb (50 carbs would be on the low side for me), but you could try playing around with that just to see. I think you're probably just in a long stall, though. Two or three weeks isn't unusual. And the above poster is right - it could also be sodium or constipation. I'd just make sure I was measuring and logging everything and ride it out. I know it's frustrating!!!

If your menu is what you posted, then there is no problem. Stalls happen, even if you are spot on with your plan. Just hang in there and that stall will break. I know how crappy it feels to be doing everything right and still not losing, but you'll get back to it!

If you are confident in your logging -- there's no "little bit here" or a bite here and there that doesn't make your log -- and you are actually weighing and measuring portions and not eyeballing -- then the best way to break this stall is time. I know it sucks, but just be patient. In fact, technically, it isn't even a stall at 2 weeks.

Additionally, it is not uncommon to retain weight and even gain when we add exercise. It will come off.

I do eat fewer carbs than you allow, but I don't think 50 is that unreasonable. I do have my best loss at under 30, however.

Weighing once a week would make me crazy. I need the daily reminder. I also have a fancy scale that measures fat, BMI, water, bone, and muscle. I know immediately if the water is higher. My favorite is if I gain but it is muscle. For me any muscle gain is awesome.
