What's on your menu today ( Wednesday) RNYers?
Good morning menu peeps!
It's a wet foggy morning here. I just want to go back to bed. But here I am on the train heading into work. Halfway through my first week back already!
QOTD: What is one thing you never leave the house without- the thing you would turn back for unless you absolutely could not be late. For me it's my iPhone. I'm addicted and I feel like I really need to work on that. I always carry a backup battery too. I use it for books, all social media, this website, MyFitnessPal and a couple of games that I like to play.
Menu for today:
Breakfast- Skyr Yogurt with NSA jam
Lunch- Leftover sausage casserole
Snacks- Vanilla Premier Protein with decaf coffee and Vanilla egg cup from www.bariatriceating.com
Dinner will be chicken breast with leftover cauliflower rice. I need to find a creamy sauce to help it go down. My pouch has been a bit finicky the last couple of days.

Morning!
today is my 6 month appointment! I cannot believe it's been almost 6 months since my surgery... feels like yesterday and at the same time, a lifetime ago...Looking forward to getting my results, and I have a few questions, but I think they are more suited to the kinesiologist. Plus, I was supposed to meet with the behaviourist as well, but she's out sick, so that will have to be rescheduled. I also found out I can pay to have a dexa scan done here in Ottawa, and now I'm curious about having that done too... and how to interpret the results, and when I should do it.
qotd: my phone would be the only thing. i do forget it sometimes and feel oddly liberated when I don't have it. Like an unreachable rebel hahahaha
Menu:
B: protein shake with powdered peanut butter
L/D: tbd. After my appointment this morning, I'm off to do groceries. The fridge is bare! Tons of meat in the freezer but nothing to go with it!
Im going trough another phase where nothing really interests me. Time to pull out a cookbook and try to get inspired. Otherwise I just eat canned tuna...which is fine, I'm just also out of tuna hahah.
have a good day everyone!

It is so exciting to go and be weighed on their scale. To have a doctor actually be proud of you and not fussing at you for being over weight is a great feeling. I am curious about the Dexa scan also. Good luck today!

"Oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good!"
I go through phases of being totally uninspired too! Lately I have been doing a lot of chicken stir fry with snow peas, and some sauce (a curry, a teriyaki, etc.). I have also been getting creative with ground turkey and making feta/spinach/Greek turkey burgers, Mexican turkey meatloaf with onions and peppers and shredded cheese, with a side of asparagus. I made PF Changs lettuce wraps last week with ground chicken and though the hoisin sauce has sugar, it was delicious! Wrapped up in big pieces of iceberg lettuce. Hope this jogs your memory and something sounds good :)
I did actually! I added snow peas and hoisin to the grocery list! I see some stir frys and lettuce cups in my future!
thanks!

I could not make my 6-month visit yesterday, too much snow. Waaa. Isn't it amazing that we are six months out????
Don't know if you have a Costco or Trader Joe's near you. I was just at Costco, and they have these great salami and mozzarella packs. 220 calories for the whole thing, which is a lot of food, I can make it last all day. Trader Joe's has a lot of options in the frozen section and in the prepared food section. I spent a lot of time there one day reading the labels. I also found turkey jerky to be a good option - softer than beef jerky and it lasts a while. Also, on the menu thread I have gotten great tips... my Trader Joe's does not always have the things people post but good to look for.
Recipes... crack chicken is great. I found a Wendy's copycat chili recipe that I froze in 1-cup portions and it is good, little high in carbs. The egg roll in a bowl recipe is good. I made several varieties of the ricotta bake - one sweet the other savory. You can freeze them and then reheat in a toaster oven.

Thanks! Unfortunately we don't have trader joes in Canada. Thanks for the reminder about crack chicken! I haven't tried that yet!
and I like this egg roll in a bowl. Forgot about that too! I see a lot of cabbage in the near future!
And yes, I cannot believe it's nearly 6 months. I might do a separate post about my appointment, but let's just say it's been a wild ride!!
in the grocery store parking lot, let's see what happens with the inspiration you guys gave me!
