Being Left Without the Babysitter

Can I say, this is just like that time I got left alone, wirh no supervision?  Parents decided I could take care of myself, went out for the night.  I can do whatever I want, eat whatever I want, and no one comments on it.  No pictures of bacon or other meat porn.  No mention of weddings with or without black bean cake.

Grim, JB, DD2, all the rest of you:  I miss you terribly.  You are the voice of reason for me in this scary new rny world.  Hurry home.

edit to add:  also what someone may perceive as unfair moderation.

I want to be clear that there has been no moderation put in place for those individuals.   Whatever decisions they have made, they made by their own choice.   Terms of service were posted as a reminder since we have a lot of new people coming to OH daily.     There are over 600,000 unqiue visitors to our website montlhly and many people will lurk before they jump in to a conversation or "put themselves out there"    OH is a place for everyone to lend their voice, their journey and their encouragement to others, no matter where they are in their journey.   The value of this website is substantial to many and if someone so chooses to not participate that is their choice.     How others particpate and want their voices to be "heard" by those who are active or lurk is up to them.  Whether it is to post engaging threads daily or replying to threads, information is valuable and everyone has a chance to do this.

I have been on OH since 2000 and the boards have changed over time, but I have always seen the benefit that the forums bring to individuals who need guiadance and help.   While times have changed, the mission of ObesityHelp has not and that is Education and Support of the Bariatric Community.

I hope that many people will use these boards for such and know that your voice, at some point can be the one that helps someone make that life changing decision to have WLS or get through that difficult phase in their journey that impedes them.  We all have the same goal in mind, how we use the boards and our voice to do that is up to each individual!

I hope everyone has a great day!

I understand what you are saying Nik, but hope this link will help you understand why I thought it was perhaps something with moderation, poss deleted posts.. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/6017268/Reminder-of-Ob esityHelps-Terms-of-Services/. (hope I linked that right. ) I read the replies to that post .  I am not arguing your point, there are tos in place for a reason.  However, I have sat back fairly quiet for a few years and learned alot from quite a few of the deactivated members.  Yes, it is each individuals choice to remain active or deactivate.  I learned basically nada from my NUT and surgeons office and if it wasn't for the group of vets here that handed out replies to our newbie posts, I can say for myself I would have not done so well. ( I do credit losing the amount of weight I have- (218 pounds since surgery ) to reading and listening to the vets who have been there done that..... Rainbows and unicorns did not provide me with the information I needed when struggling quietly!!  That is not ass kissing- it is a factual statement,  so to see many of them deactivate and or disappear is disheartening. They kept the board honest and real IMHO. I replied to the post in an attempt to explain why I believed some possibly deactivated, but only those many many members who deactivated can answer that question as to why they have deactivated for themselves.  I know you are trying to help but feel my opinion was as important as your reply. (It is us quiet ones who sit in the background and learn that actually have something to say when prompted)......Thank you for the clarification though.

^^^THIS!  Exactly how I feel.  I need these people in my life in order to be successful.  They are at LEAST partly responsible for my success.  My NUT gave me some not very good advice.  These vets give the hard line, sometimes hard to hear advice that newbies desperately need.  Before I came to OH I was on pther sites.  OMG is all I can say.  Some very bad advice out there.

Management, Moderators:  I am here because of them... the ones who are currently not here.  I hope they return.  And if they do, please be more mindful of them.  Thanks.

Seems like the moderation was not applied properly and/or went too far. I too miss everyone!
