First NSV!
I'm only 29 but was diagnosed with high blood pressure 3 years ago. It was discovered during an eye exam (went in for blurry vision) where some irregularities showed signs of diabetic retinopathy and high blood pressure.
The eye doctor sent me to an emergency clinic right away since they were having trouble getting an accurate reading of my pressure... Turns out my pressure was around 230/130, so high that the clinic doctor wanted to send me to the emergency room. I felt fine, a bit tired, but otherwise fine. Instead of sending me to the ER they gave me a prescription to immediately bring my pressure down and referred me to a cardiologist. At 26 years old, I was seeing a cardiologist. Talk about eye opener.
I was prescribed 4 medications to keep my bp near normal. I have a strong generic predisposition to hypertension, but the cardiologist strongly recommended I lose weight to help. It was scary to hear at 26 that my bp could cause a heart attack in the next ten years.
Some people look forward to wearing new clothes, being thin... I just look forward to not worrying everyday whether today will be the day my heart gives out.
Well, finally to my NSV: Day 8 post-op RNY and I have reduced my bp meds to 2. My last bp reading was 122/60 - it was borderline LOW! I may be able to come off an additional medication after my next follow up.
Simply amazing... Slowly getting my health back before turning 30.

In my opinion, my most valuable NSVs are those that involve my better health. Congrats!! What a lovely first NSV... with many more to come.

Just the first of many amazing victories to come. I'm proud of you that you were smart enough at your age to take control of your health. I waited till I was 52 and had uncontrolled high blood pressureand, high cholesterol and triglycerides. I had been seeing a cardiologist for years every 3 months. When my diabetes got so bad they wanted to start insulin I finally took the reins and had my surgery. My cardiologist was totally on board. My best NSV was my last visit when he asked where the skinny healthy lady had been hiding all these years. Now my cholesterol and triglyceride meds are gone and my BP is totally normal on one low dose pill which I will probably stay on due to family history. Blood sugars are normal now too. You are a smart young on her way to an outcome so amazing you can't even imagine it. Congratulations!
The Best NSV!!!!! Congratulations!!!
