Hair loss
I was just trying to keep it as healthy as possible and not use a lot of chemicals. I would have dyed it if i didnt already have crappy hair thinning and stuff before surgery. I was trying to do the best i could pre op so that the fallout wouldnt make me go bald. and i didnt want to have to keep dying the roots when my hair starts falling out from this surgery...iv always had blonde hair for a as long as i can remember but i naturally have brown hair so roots wouldnt be cute lol
Hi guys,
I have a ton of thick, naturally curly hair that reaches to the small of my back.
Quite honestly... I never ever thought it would happen to me...
I wash my hair once a week and tend to run my fingers through it to untangle when I am rincing it. I have to admit that there is some around my knuckles & on the brush after brushing it.
Yesterday my mother in law noticed a bauld spot on my head. I was prepared for thinning but not a bauld spot the size of a golf ball.
I am taking my Vitamins & getting all my protein in.
Have you experienced this? Does it get worse? Does it last a long time. What have you done to help improve the hair loss.
Do you take supplements? I am worried about absorption.
Going to GNC tomorrow in hope to finding something.
What are your thoughts.

the hair loss from anesthesia occurs all over the head, not just one"golf ball size bald spot."
one golball size bald spot is called "Alopecia aerata" and is a completely different medical issue than " telegenic effluvium" which is what happens after anesthesia.
you need to see a dermatologist for the bald spot

I don't disagree about seeing a dr -- because usually it IS absolutely all over the head.
However, I did actually get a bald spot during my loss -- right in the lower crown of my scalp. It did grow back.

This happened to me. Months 3-9 were the worst. I was losing huge clumps of hair, so much that I would collect it and leave it outside for the birds to make their nests with. What I realized was that though I lost a ton of hair, I must have HAD a ton of hair. It's now all grown back and it's thicker than before.

I keep looking and waiting, so far no appreciable hair loss here. I even cut my hair short to weather out the loss, lol.

You may not lose a great amount. I didn't lose anything more than my normal shedding. I was counting hairs daily, paranoid about the hair loss. I think around month 6 I asked the group at what point can I stop worrying. They pretty much said that if it hadn't happened by my month 6, then it probably wouldn't. I just chalked that up as a blessing and went on with life.
I'm a little bit over 2 months post op and I've just started to noticing some extra hair loss. I was expecting it so I'm not surprised, I've had surgery twice before and its happened both times.
In your case I don't think it would hurt to ask your doctor, I know hair loss is common but I personally haven't heard anyone getting bald spots.
