What's on Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning friends. Feeling blah today. Lots of worry about my son and legal changes that seem to be heading our way in Texas. Honestly it is already hard enough to be 16, adding being transgender and in Texas under this federal administration is rough. Planning on going to a protest tonight with my 20 year old. Hoping the sense of 'doing something' will help.
QOTD: I am quitting smoking! It is for me. My heart condition really needs me to quit. It will save me tons of money. It will make me feel better and stronger. I deserve to live long and healthy! Go me!!
Menu: B: Greek yogurt with no sugar added granola; L: Chicken crack; D: On the go while in Austin, likely steak or brisket; S: Grapes; ES: 2 Laughing Cow Light Swiss Wedges with slices of red bell pepper; Totals (if brisket for dinner): Calories 907; Protein 78; Carbs 40; Fat 58
Accountability: Last cigarette was still on Tuesday morning. None at all yesterday. None today (knock on wood). Have used my vapor stick a few times but really only when driving and once right before bed last night. Had a crazy craving evening snack issue again. The Guy is gone, the smoking quit, the general stress of the day? Maybe all of those things added up but whatever it was I was pretty compulsive with the evening snacks. I weighed 123.8 this morning which is up from all the snacks. They were pretty healthy snacks but it was still too much. I did curb it some by drinking water with a sugar free Tang powder in it. I struggle to drink plain water...it makes me nauseous. This Tang stuff was tasty and I drank almost a full 16 ounces. I still snacked around that but it definitely kept me from eating as much as I would have without it. Will be trying that more often. Staying hydrated is a good idea anyway so anything that helps me drink something other than coffee is my friend.
Hope you all have a great day.
~Elizabeth

Oh Elizabeth, I must say I thought of you and your son when the tragic news broke last night. You wrote such a well-worded reply to some moron's post (a few weeks ago?) and I wish I had saved your sentiment about why it's so important to protect transgender rights. The thought of your poor son being discriminated against and having to go use a girl's bathroom at school - it breaks my heart. Why are there so many close-minded people in the world?
His texts to me today were down right depressing. He sounds scared. He never sounds scared. He is a little badass....today he is shaken. We will get through it but geez... it is rough right now.
Thanks for thinking of us.

These legal changes really make me want to climb under the covers and hide... I can only imagine the stresses on your son... I know it's affecting my husband... I understand that people that DON'T understand are confused... it we could just get enough funding to start some ads on TV, maybe that would help... if people understand how the whole Transgendered community is, get to know someone and really understand... I believe they would be more compassionate. Did you guys watch the Katie Couric special? I swear, I want to have a party and invite the less informed friends I have over to watch... only most of my friends are very informed! LOL You Go on the protest!!! And send some to your son from Riley and I.
No Smoking QUEEN!!!
So, I make this luscious sweet creamy latte every night... with Fairlife milk and SF syrups... if I can convince myself to drink that instead of heading to the pantry, I can almost always keep myself out of things I don't need... kind of like your water.... actually last night I drank a 16oz of water (Mio peach mango, yum!) almost in a panic because after this nice lull in 'cravings'... my head is trying to wake back up...Dang monster! Leave me alone!!!

Weird thing is many many many people actually do know a transgender person...they simply don't realize it. Why? Because they are just regular people. Not creepy or strange or exotic. Just people. We will figure out a way to get through this. It just is hard to know my son is a target. Makes me want to burn Rome and fight the hordes and roar at everyone to back off. Typical momma bear is suppose.

Morning all... I am still off schedule from Jet Lag, so I didn't set an alarm this AM either. Woke at 6 but decided to crawl back in bed. :)
I sympathize on the 3lbs overnight..the small fluctuations we expect but when you have a big one...it kind smacks you in the face. Don't remember if I mentioned it yesterday, but I had been whining about my weight gain from my Trip. Part of it was a weighed myself mid-week on vacation and I was only up 1/2lb. Got home Fridat, Sat Am up 6lbs, Sunday Am up 7lbs.... What? Well I pulled back, simplified foods still ate 900-1100 calories, water etc... when I came back from DC and weighed myself yesterday AM I was down 8lbs. 8lbs/3 days- Holy water retention Batman!
Tuesday night in DC I had the fun of meeting up with a fellow OHer- Gwen M. We had so much fun, ate a place called the Silver Diner which is a farm to table place and had amazing huevos rancheros minus tortilla- that was made with a chorizo bison hash...Sooooo good. Never had Bison before.
Going for Bloodwork in a few minutes have my physical with my primary next week... will be interested to see the results.

B2: egg wrap
L: Salami, cheese fruit

I'm in a bummed mood today. I woke up tired and I forgot my phone at home. Yesterday I left my daughters fundraiser candy in the kitchen at work and when I got here this morning 8 boxes @$2 ea are missing! I checked the box right before I left and everything added up. I had my hands full when leaving so I was going to go back and get it but got a phone call and forgot. We have a cleaning crew that comes in after hours so I think it was them.
I'm still not losing. It's been what, 6 weeks now? I eat only meat and occasionally (maybe once a week) eat a chobani flip. I stay around 800 cals or less. I'm trying to stay positive but days like today its hard. I will keep doing what I'm doing. Somethings gotta give eventually.
B - Coffee with creamer, fairlife skim milk
L1 - baked salmon
L2 - chicken breast or beef fajitas or TJ turkey meatballs ( I have these frozen here at work so I have options)

I predict a nice loss as soon as your stall lets up. It IS hard... but don't let it derail you (says the woman that does exactly that when I don't like the scale LOL).
