Mind/Body Preparing Itself?

I had back surgery in late June, so I understand the changes there. For me, I've run, walked, done whatever and been active over life. It was the food part that I struggled with. Not necessarily junk, but portion control, etc. Also, my diabetes is like a see-saw and adding some extra struggles.

I'm at the early phase. I've had my first consult with both the surgeon, nurse, nutritionist, and am looking at August. Went to a seminar. I have my Psych appt this week, and will be setting up other things, but I've got a priority first (girl issues and a D/C scheduled next week) - so the GYN/ultrasounds/biopsy stuff and all have been at the forefront. Once this is finished, I'll focus on my next appts. :) Second nutritionist appt is also next week.

That's fab the food issue isn't as much of a struggle for you. I'm saying good-byes and stripping calories for the time being. Trying to make better choices, and also try new things, things I normally shy away from. I tried oatmeal for the first time today. I'm almost 50! I have texture issues, but I was like, it's a healthy food, and I need to try it.I was freaked out by the mushy. It wasn't so scary, but hubs says i need the 1 min version, since the 5 min version was still too lumpy for me, haa

You know what, I think if I'm being totally honest, I'd have to agree and say that portion control has been an issue for me. My husband is an amazing cook and I would take anything that he's cooking over going out to eat, any day. As soon as I read "portion control" in your response, it was like I could hear him just the other day explaining to my daughter that "Mom love my cooking! In fact, I think she'd take my home cooking over anything your could order out." He's absolutely and completely not trying to blame my amazing hubs here, but I can never get enough of his cooking. Wow, there's something that I've never realized before.

The time will seem to drag, but it will actually fly! I'm less than a week away and also coming up on the year mark from when I first met my surgeon.

I'm right there with you with texture issues! My big triggers are fruit skins. I think I can handle oatmeal because it's something I've eaten since I was a kid. What I prefer over oatmeal though is Cream of Wheat. I absolutely love the stuff! It's less "texturey" than oatmeal and tastes yummy, especially when you add some fruit or cinnamon. Quick Oats do seems to have a somewhat different texture than the regular ones.

Ha, I tried a few spoons of Cream of Wheat last week! Texture issues again, but I'm trying to get over it and find healthier options. Good luck on your journey. I look forward to hearing about your future wins!
