Hi,

I'm 19 pounds from my target!  Yea!  I'm still losing weight pretty quickly.  How will I stop?

I'm really no help, as I've not hit goal quite yet, and I'm also not worried about going below it... because, somewhere along the line, I decided that my goal is just a number, and I'm going to let my body do what it wants at this point... (obviously not gain! LOL)

Of course, I'm 9 months out, not just 4. I am naturally slowing down...

But I'm sure the guys will chime in (I'm guessing this happens more with men, than with women... call me sexist... LOL)

You're killing this weight loss! Congratulations!!

Thanks for your encouragement.  Yours is probably healthier.  I'm actually accelerating a little each month.  I'm still a little afraid that at 5'11" I'm going to end up at 140.

My doctor said that there is a "levelling effect" and the body knows where it wants to be.  Having said that I am lower than I expected I would ever get. I had hoped to get to 150-155.  I am now at 140 (I lost 5 pounds of skin with plastics a few weeks ago). I am still well within what is considered "normal" weight, so I am trying to increase my protein a bit and am adding more fruits and vegetables to my meals.

So, I would say, I think you need to let your body dictate where you stop as long as you are eating protein forward.  What does your doctor say?

Often the last pounds are the hardest to lose, but even if you blow by your goal your body will stop when it's ready.  No need to change anything.  The hardest part is staying where you land!

Keep doing what you are doing.

For most of us, it levels out. The further we get out, the more we can eat. We look too thin for a while, but things shift and many people have a little bounceback after they get to their lowest.

In my 9 years in the bariatric community (here and real life), I only know of a few who were truly "too thin" by 3 years out unless they have had serious complications.

Start real exercises- build muscles. You body should make you eat more.  Then chose the good things like proteins and fat.

The scale stopped for me all at once.  I was too skinny and had to wear pads in my bras.

I stayed that way for two years and then started rapid regain at 30 months out.  Now I have to be very careful or I will gain weight.

Surgery gets the weight off, diet and exercise keep it off.

I don't need to pad my bra...
