Good Morning all. So sorry Daisy for what you are going through!! I have times where I am not getting enough sleep and it typically is just because I can't turn off my mind!! For me when I can't do that I end  up feeling even more exhausted than if I had been working out all day!! It completely drains me. I also have not found a good way to get over it besides wait for it to pass or try and find new things that bring me pleasure to occupy my mind.

Yesterday's menu looked like this: B: coffee L: cottage cheese with SF raspberry jam, cheese stick D: steaks on the grill, small amount of winter squash

Oh, Daze, I'm so sorry you're not sleeping well - sleep really is so fundamental and I hear you on feeling completely off when you're not getting enough of it!

I used to have a horrible time falling asleep. Once I was asleep, I stayed asleep, but I would lay in bed for an hour plus with my mind racing. Well, I'm addicted to audiobooks and started putting on a book to fall asleep to and it's awesome. I focus on the book and not all the stress and to-dos in my life and it works like a charm. I set the sleep timer on the app for 15 minutes and I almost never remember it going off (which can sometimes make it hard to keep the thread of the story LOL). When I first moved in with the Fella I couldn't figure out how to listen to a book without disturbing him, so it was back to an hour plus to fall alseep, so I found CozyPhones, which is basically a fleece headband that has super flat earphones inside and I can now listen to books as I fall asleep again.

My day is going to be a long one. I have a reception 5-7pm tonight and then have to make an appearance at a program. I had planned to come in a bit late, but of course a meeting got put on my schedule for 9am so, here I am.

Time since surgery: 2 years + 11 months

B: coffee, baked egg

S: Siggi's

L: left over eggplant rollatini from last evening

S: nuts and string cheese

then comes the reception, it's the press party for a Taste of event, so there's going to be food and I don't know what, but I've left plenty of room in my numbers to make it my dinner

V/W: started

E: spent an hour at the gym this morning

Have a lovely day, all!

I'm like that with the radio - I have the BBC on low volume all night.  When I was staying with my brother in October, I had a heck of a time getting to sleep.  It was too freaking quiet!!  By the third day, I was booting up my laptop before bed and livestreaming the BBC so I could fall asleep!!

So is that a positive review for the CozyPhones? I have looked at similar things but wasn't sure if they were any good.

Definitely. These are the ones I have and the Fella was actually jealous and got a pair for himself as well. I can't say they're THE BEST sound quality, but they serve their purpose perfectly.

Good morning Daisy and gang.  I'm going to join you on the no-sleep train today.  It sucks that you don't know what's causing yours, I hope you can figure it out soon.  I know all too well why I didn't sleep well last night.  I've been up since 3am.  My little one, Kaladin, went to bed last night at 8:30 in his own bed (yay for big boys!) but I stayed up until 10:30.  Then my sweet little guy climbed into bed with us at 3am when he woke in the middle of the night.  He was tossing and turning trying to go to sleep, but my hubby had to get up at 4 because he is flying to Memphis this morning, so that got the baby up and he was raring to go.  It was cheerios and bananas at 4:30am, and I'm going on about 4 hours sleep here.

and for your question of the day, the answer is always sleep.  I need 7 hours to function properly, and do better with 8.  I can halfway function on 6, but anything less and I'm a hot mess, as I am today.  I would have worked from home today, but I have a bunch of stuff to do here in the office.  If I get my **** done early enough, I'm going to skip out early, though I have a feeling I'm going to be here until at least 4.  Hey, at least I'll have a lot of overtime to show for it.

18.5 months since surgery

B: Egg cup made with 1 egg, 1oz ricotta, 4 turkey pepperoni, 1tsp marinara and 1/2 ounce of shredded mozzarella. Coffee with SF coffeemate

L: 5 ounces of chicken breast with 2 ounces of fat free feta cheese, 4 kalamata olives and 1/2 serving of canned beets. No dressing.  This lunch is very exciting for me!  It's 273 calories 42g of protein and 8 carbs.  KAPOW!

D: I really haven't even thought of dinner today, I'm a zombie, but I have been really good and I'll eat something protein forward.  Kal said he wanted fish, so I may stop at the store to pick some up on the way home, it's a fast cook and he'll eat it.

S: Light and Fit Greek yogurt

totals:

If I eat 5oz of baked cod for dinner this is what I'll be at for the day!

calories 694 protein 102 carbs 20 fat 22

This is pretty much a perfect food day for me.  If I can stick to this and not deviate, it will be a huge win for me.

Good morning menu crew.  It feels great to be back here.  Work has been CRAZY and I've been MIA from the boards for about a week.  Daizy I'm sorry you're having trouble with sleep... it's the worst and leads to so many other problems.  I wish I had some great advice... prayer (if you do that) is a big help for me, meditation, and at last resort meds - I haven't taken anything post WLS but maybe tylenol pm?

B:  Protein coffee

L:  Can of tuna, 1 T Light Mayo, spoon of relish to make tuna salad.

S:  1/2 C Greek LnF Yogurt, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1/2 T PB2

D:  Meatloaf (I don't use much bread and try to keep what I do use on DH's side of the pan, asparagus (I think)

E:  60 minutes on the eliptical done

Hello and Good morning all!! Hope everybody is well!:) I'm doing pretty good on the count of having only 1 week to go until my surgery date ? Omg I can't believe it is finally almost here for real!

Anyways...

QOTD: when I'm feeling "off" I love to take a nice hot shower with my favorite music and just soak. Idk. I also love to get my nails done. That's my thing. If my nails are done, I tend to be in a better mood. BUT my all time favorite thing is getting cuddles from my girls and having a movie day! They seem to always no when to perk me right up!

Once again... my menu is so blah since I'm on my preop diet (oh how I miss coffee). But I know it'll be worth it.

b- vanilla premier protein shake

s- sugar free jello

l- beef broth

~30 mins later~ bananas and cream premier protein shake

s: sugar free popsicle

D: egg drop soup broth (straining it but it's something new so I'm excited!)

~30 mins later~ sugar free jello

S: chocolate premier protein shake

**this is my pathetic attempt to "mixing it up" lol.

Anyways hope everybody has an amazing day! Here's to a great week!
