Netrition.com. About 120 calories and 20 grams of protein

There are food vendors all over airports. I sometimes will bring a Quest protein bar. I try to keep with real food. Nuts are good. Easy to pack.

Too many carbs for my comfort.

Thanks for all your responses & ideas.

I am not a fan of Beef Jerky before RNY & I don't think that I could tolerate it this early out regardless.

My dietician said to stay away from protein bars for now.

They tend to have high calories and I am not sure that I could tolerate them this early out

Trying to back off the cheese as I am pretty sure it is contributing to my constipation.

Nuts are a great idea but almonds are very high in calories.

Gonna bring some Greek yogurt just not sure that I can cross over with any food like that.

I am definitely going to google the restaurants & choices for our lay over in Montreal.

I am looking for a dry snack for the airplane as I tend to have nausea during the flight.  It would not be a regular snack just a once only for the flights there and back.

Trying to plan ahead ....

Wish I could bring a couple of Premiere Protein Shakes. They would be perfect... BUT @ 325 ml not sure they would let me smuggle it across. I thought of bringing my RNY card. Hoping them would make an exception.

Thanks again

Sandra

Just FYI someone in our local group recently flew and he just told them the Premier Protein shakes were for medical reasons and as long as he was willing to let them open them up to make sure it was what it said it was they let him through security just fine.  The RNY card would help back that up.

Beef Jerky is an acquired taste and I never ate it pre-WLS. The 2 brands that I find aren't as tough or overly  'jerky-ish' are Krave and Perky Turkey. I know they sell them both at Target.

Syntrax Fuzzy Navel is the only 100% whey protein powder I've found that tastes good in water. I bought a 12 pack  of individual serving size on Amazon for my last trip. Pack a few and I like this shaker bottle, don't really need a huge one.

I make my own trail mix. You can individually portion in snack bags. I do assortment of nuts, either sunflower or pumpkin seeds and a few raisins and cut up soft dried apples for sweetness.

Bring a few bars, but if you can find real food it is better.

Peanut butter packs work too as Hala mentioned

I make cookies out of the Quest Bars (better portion control 8 cookies from 1 bar, 2 cookies are a filling portion) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/07/quest -protein-bar-cookies.html

Almonds are an easy one.

If you have a Trader Joe's near you their new Cheese Bites are delish http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2017/01/post- weight-loss-surgery-menus-day-in_14.html

I travel every week for work and I have made Quest chips my go to snack.  I don't really like them but they're low calorie, low carb and high protein.  1/2 a bag usually does the trick for me since it feels like you're eating cardboard.  I can only choke the cheese one's down.  But, like someone else said, they are VERY fragile and you have to be careful with the bag.  I rarely find acceptable food options at airports.

I agree with you on the chips - the cheese ones are the only ones that are somewhat tolerable.  But they're very convenient and filling..

At your stage, you really want to prioritize protein. For every 100 calories, there should be at least 10 grams of protein. Ideally, there would be 20 grams per 100 calories, but that's a little harder.

If it doesn't fit the 10/100 ratio, it's best to leave it alone until you hit maintenance.
