Yes, water has been a BIG problem since surgery. I used to love it and was able to drink it any temp and now I can't. It tastes funky and seems almost 'thick' and gross. It just doesn't agree with my taste buds or pouch. However, when I drink it freezing cold in a half frozen water bottle it's different, it's 'thinner' and goes down pretty good. Once that ice melts all bets are off and its back to funky, so I stick it back in the freezer and grab another one. I've been drinking grape flavored water, but I'd really like to get back to jus****er.

I like really cold with tons of ice. I got an Artic mug. It will keep ice from melting all day or until I chomp the ice down.

Good morning DD2 and crew!  And the other Daisy!  Great picture!

QOTD:  I literally would have failed without OH.  Not only the low carb issue.  I have a great surgeon and pretty good NUT.  But they still recommend things that are just not good, like 130 grams a day of carbs.  After five months I am finally being able to see the effects of things like eating bread.  Makes me hungry, but when I eat chicken breast makes me SO full and not hungry.  I really don't think I would have connected the dots by myself, being such a carb lover.  Also, logging on daily to post keeps me so much more on track.  Accountability is huge with me.

B:  Fairlife with coffee, Premier Protein Chocolate

L:  Dannon Greek Boston Cream Pie, babybel

D:  Chicken breast homemade nuggets, salad with lite ranch

S:  Syntrax fuzzy navel, sf cran-mango with water

Totals:  654 calories, 97 protein 37 carbs 13 fat

I forgot to post a NSV... I took my daughter to Trader Joe's for groceries on Sunday.  She walked right by me and did not recognize me when we were shopping.  And we had a great time talking about protein and the importance of staying away from so many carbs... my role in her life is changing.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey all, it's another drive by for me today as I have a ridiculous day of meetings and calls and running all over the place! I've already been to yoga, an 8am meeting at one side of the county, a 9:30 at the other side of the county, a quick visit to my niece because my GPS took me about 2 minutes from her house, and now I'm finally in the office. And because the universe hates me - it's my board meeting night, so I'm at wor****il this 7pm meeting starts and it's usually at least two hours - yuck!

Now that my whining is over - QOTD: well, without OH I would be loooooooooooooost. As a wayward soul for many months I was a mess and I'm so happy to be back and focused. I've created bonds that reach across the country and even into other countries (hey there Canada) and the advice and commiseration I get here means more than I can express!

Time since surgery: 2 years + 10 (almost 11) months

B: coffee and a Quest bar on the run

S: a TJ's chia seed, pumpkin seed, and cranberry bar (there are a lot of bars today)

L: baked egg with turkey sausage, which I normally eat for breakfast but couldn't today

S: string cheese

D: Panera

S: a PB cookie when I finally get home!

V/W: started

E: 6am yoga is where it's at

Happy Friday eve!  I'm very much looking forward to the weekend.  It's been a looooonnnngggg week.  Although my weekend plans may get rained out.  We're expecting 5" of rain tomorrow through Saturday.  I hope the forecasters are wrong.  We've had so much rain lately, that the ground is completely saturated and that much rain can only lead to bad things . . . Fingers crossed that they're wrong!

DQOTD:  I'm very happy that I found OH early and am grateful to have each and every one of you in my life.  Luckily my surgeon also has training in nutrition and has hired some really good, smart dietitians.  Their plan focuses on low carb eating during the weight loss phase.  They say they would prefer if you stay away from bread, rice, etc.  But they also tell you if you're going to go against their wishes and have it, what the best choices are.  I followed their plan and was able to lose all my weight, so they must be doing something right.  I do know that right after my revision surgery, I was in a mandatory nutrition class which was being led by a hospital dietitian (my group's dietitian was on maternity leave).  She flat out said that she didn't agree with the group's post op food plan and went ahead, in response to a question regarding salsa and dip that it would be ok for them to cut corn tortillas into strips, spray them with olive oil and bake them and have those with their dips.  this was to NEW POST OPS!  I think she was wrong in the first place, but how in the hell do you give new post ops license to snack and don't even give them any idea of portion size, etc.  I had visions of these two men going home, baking up some chips and going to town.  As soon as the meeting was over I sent a text to my surgeon and told him what happened.  I never saw her in his offices again.

It was interesting yesterday.  I had to see and endocrinologist for my dumping issue.  She asked me about my carb consumption and was shocked at how few I eat even this far post surgery.  She questioned me extensively about whether I feel fatigued or foggy, etc. because she feels that under 60g is very low.  She did say shes not a bariatric specialist, and I should listen to my surgeon, but she'd like me to try and increase my carbs to close to 100g . . . sorry but not gonna happen.

My Plan:

B: 1.8 oz new york strip

S: Skinny latte

S: 1 oz ham

L: Citrus marinated chicken thigh 3 oz spread out over 2 servings

S: Dannon light and fit, almonds after the gym

D: no idea

No totals because of the dinner hole, but I'm assuming less than 1000 cal and close to 100g protein.

Love the pic! It's so nice getting to meet other people out there :)

QOTD: I'd be completely lost! I was given no guidance at all. No binder, no calorie or gram guidelines, pretty much told eat what you can but only till you're full.. obviously they said to avoid sugars and alcohol etc, but nothing about startches and too much fruit, or protein first and then veggie and so on and so on. I felt like I was thrown out to the wolves. To say that I'd be lost without you guys is an understatement. There are no words to express how grateful I am to have you all "on my side" and to know that I can always find an answer or support here. Hopefully I can provide the same kind of support to future newbies when I am further along!

B: syntrax shake

L: hot and sour soup

S: slices of baked tofu

D: leftover chicken or turkey meatballs (tbd)

S: cottage cheese

V: the usual chalky chewables lol, iron, biotin, calcium

E: getting the dogs out after work and cardio DVD (going to try realllllly hard to motivate myself - I've been feeling unusually lazy the last week or so)

have an amazing day, everyone!!!
