6 month followup-Phentermine?!
Hey everyone. Good news first...no more prescription medications. All I have to take is vitamins and calcium. I'm thankful for that. A1C is 5.1, kidneys look great, and cholesterol is in line. I'm doing great.
Bad news...The PCP from the Bariatric Center suggested I start taking Phentermine since he wants more weight loss. I was just revised to RNY 6 months ago from lapband. I can't see myself taking a prescription when I'm still in my first year of this journey. I have another follow up with him next month, but I can't fill that prescription. I'm down 50 plus pounds. I think that's good. Plus I did this to get off medications.
I checked the boards and I see some have had to take Phentermine once that close to goal and maybe needed a boost or gained some weight after goal.
Please let me know your thoughts.
I would not do it and am surprised a physician is encouraging it. Revisions lose slower (so I hear). Do you have a goal?-- how much more until you meet your goal? I'd sooner reevaluate my diet/exercise then start popping a pill to speed weight loss.

Log everything that goes in your mouth and the amount and then sit down with your surgeon or group and find out why you are losing slowly. BE HONEST! You may be eating too many carbs and not enough protein.
PHENTERMINE should not even be on the list of options. Seriously?!?!

I wouldn't fill it either. And I'd worry about any doctor who would prescribe it,especially so early out. As others said,be totally honest about what you're eating and track calories and protein. I'd eat a little less (especially carbs) or move a little more rather than take a diet pill. And I'm just snarky enough I would tell my doctor I wasn't taking it.
Wow, I'm very surprised at that! I wouldn't fill it either....just go with what everyone else suggested....log/track, and keep at it. Good luck :)

I'd be unstoppable if not for law enforcement & physics
I know several vets on here who are currently taking phentermine to "help" lose their regain (or v weight they never lost)
It definitely seems to be back in fashion, but I love my heart too much to start taking legal speed!!!!
I also agree that you should give it a good go, the old fashioned way, before taking the risk of phentermine.

I just looked up the warnings and side-effects. No way I'd take this unless I absolutely had to for regain possibly, but not while you are still losing post-op.
