Struggling...feeling let down
I had my surgery on 12/20 everything was fine for 2 weeks then (I was taking a blood thinner due to history of blood clots) I had a bleeding issue which landed me in the hospital. I was told to stop the blood thinner. Then I started being unable to drink anything thicker then water. I had an upper endoscopy which showed a stricture and the beginnings of an ulcer :(. So now I am being treated for the ulcer. The ulcer med I have to take 3 times a day on an empty stomach. I know I am not meeting my protein goals as I cannot tolerate any protein drinks right now. I am not even meeting my liquid goals due to the ulcer meds and I cannot take this med at the same time as any other med I am having a hard time with my supplements too. My weight loss has stalled too :( I just feel like I am losing all of my golden time to all of these complications and feeling discouraged.
Wow, that is a lot to handle and I'm sure we would all be feeling the same way. One day at a time, eventually everything will work itself out. Try your best do stay positive and do what you can with meeting your liquid goals.

I'm so sorry you're going through this...
I know it seems really tough right now, but the ulcer and stricture will clear up soon, and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing. The stall is normal, and doesn't mean you are throwing it all away, promise!
Try try try to drink as much water as you can, just take small sips every 10 minutes if that's all you can do, but you'll start to feel better if you stay hydrated. You can order the Patches from PatchMD.. these don't require you swallowing anything, or spacing out times to get the vitamins down. They are a little pricey, but you can look for a 40% off coupon that is regularly available to offset things. I LOVE my patch vitamins, and I've had good results with my blood work since being on them, too.
Hang in there! It will get better

I also had a stricture but no ulcer, although they started me on carafate for a month. I agree that it's virtually impossible to take the carafate as prescribed plus eat and follow the program. My doc told me to just try to space out the carafate an hour +/- of food. That helped a lot. Interestingly enough I also stalled with my stricture, which was amazing to me since I was only getting a couple hundred calories a day because I threw everything up. The scale started moving a few weeks after the EGD for the stricture. Hang in there, it will get better and you'll feel so much better.
You will get past this, remember this is not a diet, things will eventually balance out and you will lose the weight.
Fluids are the most important. Syntrax brand has some flavors that are 100% whey protein and taste good in water- like ice tea, lemonade and my favorite fuzzy navel. Just over dilute them

I'm so sorry. I had my surgery a week after you. I didn't have the complications you have had, but I will say it was a solid 4 weeks before I started feeling better. And it was virtually impossible to choke that protein down. All of it made me sick. Then week 5 happened and I suddenly feel better. I can drink the protein again. My fluids are up. It really took me feeling better to be able to do these things, which in turn made me feel better. It's all a circle.
So, I hope you feel better soon. We all heal at different rates. You'll get there.
