Premier Protein
I didn't know that either. But my surgeon insists we use celebrate shakes during the two weeks pre-op through the first couple of weeks post op...I forget exactly h, ow long, but you get a supplement package as part of your treatment with enough shake mix to last you a while, and you are supposed to use that until it's gone. Then you can switch to something cheaper. I guess this is why. I use premier now, but I only have a shake a couple of times a week now.

My doctor had me on Bariatric Advantage shakes... his daughter in law, another Bariatric doctor at the SAME hospital has her patients on Premier Protein. I understand about the whey protein Isolate, versus the concentrate... but I find it so interesting that so many doctors all have so many different opinions on everything!
I think there is someone here that counts the Premier shakes as 20g of protein... I kind of liked that way of thinking...
Personally, I took it like I did breast/bottle feeding... cloth/disposable diapers... everyone has a very strong opinion on it!

I saw the PA yesterday for a followup. She beat the cr.p out of me for drinking Premier. Exactly as Eggface said, it apparently isn't absorbed as well and something about the pure whey being gentle or promoting healing post surgery. Something that makes healing better, either way. So the deal I struck is that I can use Premier on the weekends when I'm running around. I have enough Syntrax that it is fine. I didn't want to toss that stuff out. So a balance is perfect vs. all from one protein(s) sources.
ehh, We were allowed to have the premier protein shakes for the pre op and after we had to have the Whey isolate powder using the blender bottle. Weird huh how some doctors/NUT's want certain brands and if you look at success across the board from all of these people here you have to ask,"does it really matter?" I think its just what they want for their patients cause that's what they know. Premier protein is so popular cause you can get anywhere, And it taste good with all the flavors.
I became a fan of Premier early post-surgery when I was struggling to get my protein grams in. High protein, low carbs, etc. They saved my tail especially early out! I discovered that you can use the vanilla flavor as a sort of coffee creamer... warm the chocolate flavor as a sort of hat chocolate... all sorts of little tricks to get your protein and enjoy it, even when you feel like you just can't. Convenient and, if you like them, tasty! My nutritionist and surgeons office guided me in my protein shake choices and while protein powders/bariatric brands were higher on the list, Premier was the only RTD shake that they recommended at the time.
I'm 2 years post surgery but I always keep some Premier on hand for days when I have an 18 hour work day, or long haul travel (I travel for work) - great to grab and go and keep fueled. I usually feel better when I eat my protein but I am not always in a position to do that.
Hope it helps!
