3+ Week Plateau and then huge loss overnight -- is this the norm?

OK, OH friends ... I've been on a plateau for almost a month and then,  overnight, I lost 6 pounds. I'm not complaining, believe me, I'M THRILLED. Just want to know if this is the norm and if others have experienced this too? Thanks for any responses and sharing.

I am no expert but I have heard that sometimes our fat cells absorb a ton of water while we are in a stall and then one day, woosh, they decide to come out .... take what you can get I guess and so awesome for you.  This is hard work.

I've had that happen as well. It only resulted in me stepping on/off the scale 8-9 times to verify.

If you do a search on stalls you will find quite a bit of history on all of the regular posters and the ongoing stalls and pounds lost over the first year. I found it really helpful!

Congrats on your loss.

Thank you so much for posting this.  I've been stalled for two full weeks and am happy to see that there is hope.  I know all of the advice, and know it happens to everyone, but it is still an emotional thing when you experience it for the first time.  I'll be happy when it finally breaks.

Yes, emotional and frustrating. Rationally, I knew I would begin to lose again but emotionally, I feared that this was somehow the end and my weight loss had stopped forever. Hang in there and keep coming back to OH for inspiration!

Week one I lost 15 pounds and then ZERO for weeks 2 and 3. I was out of my mind crazy thinking I was doing everything wrong, how could I not lose when I could barely even eat? Then week four I lost 10 pound. Its weird and very frustrating, but since then I have been pretty consistent.
