What's on your menu today (PHOTO FRIDAY) RNYers?
Same! In order to get clothes to fit my belly I often have to have dresses and tops taken in at the shoulder or chest, or sleeves shortened. The most I've paid I think is 15$. So, I factor that into the price when I'm shopping.
and you learn to have an eye for what can and can't be altered!

Good morning darlings. I don't have any photos queued for this friday. I forgot to pull some off my home computer and I scoured facebook for a particular photo that I wanted to post, but I can't find it. I even logged onto my old myspace account to see if it was there, but apparently I deleted it when I abandoned my account. I'll tyr to come up with something, but I've got a busy day, so we'll see.
DD2QOTD: I am usually pretty thoughtful about opening doors and holding the elevator for people. I guess the most recent thing I've done is give my coworker, who will be having WLS sometime this year and just saw his surgeon for the first time a few weeks ago, a whole unopened can of Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein powder and my old kitchen scale so he can start on losing the 50lbs that the doctor wants before his surgery. He's also going with me to the peer led support group tomorrow afternoon, and we're going to meet at a coffee shop early and I'm going to help him try to figure out a preop menu to help with his weight loss. He's only 21 and lives with his parents. I think that his parents don't always eat healthy, so I'm willing to teach him how to cook for himself and meal plan. I had you guys here when I was pre-op, and I can't imagine having to figure it all out alone at that age. They didn't even give him a menu guideline or a calorie target.
Okay, in other news, I'm super excited because my husband has finally officially started the process for weightloss surgery. He spoke with the hospital yesterday and scheduled his meeting with the sugeon, his exercise class, his psych eval and one other appointment. So within the next few months we should have a better idea of when the surgery will take place. I'm thinking maybe later in the summer like it was for me.
Today is Friday which means snack day here in the office. But this is MY snack day. So, I brought in a dried meat, cream cheese and green onion cheeseball with some crackers and a relish try with olives and pickles. I just couldn't imagine doing something sweet. I was kinda planning on making a pan of eggfaces ricotta back with ground turkey in it, but I totally forgot about snack day until last night so I went to kroger and improvised last night after work.
18 months since surgery
B: 2 eggs, ham, onion, green pepper and cheese from the deli downstairs.
L: I didn't pack, and my hubby is supposed to meet me here for lunch today. We'll probably hit the deli and I'll get a salad or we'll go to Potbelly around the corner and get some sort of sandwich. I'll keep it protein forward.
D: No plan yet. Today is a busy day and I just ran out of the house without a plan this morning.
no totals because, yeah. Busy.
I have therapy mid afternoon. I always look forward to that.
That is so exciting for you and your husband! I hope his process is smooth sailing!! Also...great job on mentoring that kid from work. It is really going to change his life. Great job!

"I am basically food's creepy ex-girlfriend. I know we can't be together anymore but I just want to spend time hanging out" ~me, about why I love cooking so much post WLS
Good luck to your husband! He'll have a great coach there for him throughout the whole process!
And I think what you're doing for the guy at work is really a huge contribution to his success down the road!

That's great news about your husband and it's awesome that you're helping your coworker, that goes far beyond a random act of kindness, you could be quite literally helping him save his life. That's an amazing thing and they're both so fortunate to have your support. At 18 months out when the battle with food gets harder it's such a good opportunity for you to be reminded of the basics and all the work you've put in to achieve the success you've had so far. Hopefully the newbie excitement and motivation is contagious!

QOTD: boy - I need to get with the program - I can't think of any recent random acts of kindness other than to take someone's Saturday shift so she could spend an extra day with her terminally-ill aunt (although I got something out of it as well - I didn't have to take a vacation day for some time I took off earlier in the week - I used the comp time from that Saturday shift instead - so not sure if that really counts!!!)
DH working all weekend (again!), so the only fun thing is going out to dinner with some of the co-workers from my former job tonight. I left there 15 years ago, and many of them have retired, but we still get together once a month. This place features "small plates", so it's perfect for us bariatric types...
20 months out
B: L&F coconut vanilla yogurt, fresh raspberries & blackberries, 1 T Kashi Crunch granola
S: coffee with half & half, double SF protein/fiber pumpkin chai tea latte
L: I'm thinking baby carrots & hummus, snack-size beef stick
D: pork meatballs with Romanesco sauce, charred carrots with chimichurri
probably another Greek yogurt tonight if I can afford the calories
I didn't think I'd posted this picture before, but evidently I have since it'd already been uploaded to this account. Oh well - it's an oldie but goodie. These are two of my cats, Aytekin and Minik.
