Good morning menu crew! Its cold here, -12C (10F), with the windchill feels like -19C (0F), its frigid here! I saw on the news that some of you in the US are getting hit with a big snow storm, BE SAFE, I think we are getting that snow tomorrow here.
QOTD: Let's talk couches. So hubby and I have these two big 3 seater brown suede Lay-Z-Boy recliner couches. We hate them! They are about 8 years old and the frames have not worn well. The suede is great, its the frames of the couches, they are horrible. We let our dogs on the couches so not sure if its my pre WLS weight plus two Labs weight but one couch is pretty bad with no padding in the seat area and is literally creaks when you move on it. So on Sunday we are going "couch shopping." I feel like this is a daunting task. Do I want fabric, leather, suede again? Do I want 3 seaters or 2 seaters? Do I want a couch and a chair? Do I go high end or low end? I feel like I can't walk into a store and just sit on a couch for a minute and say "yes that's the one." I don't know why but it just seems really hard to pick out new couches!! What do you recommend for two adults who love to lay out on the couch with their dogs? Hubby loves to nap on the couch so it needs to be something "comfy." What do you all have and do you love it?

10+ years post op, living & loving life!
It's 64° here and we're expecting a high in the mid 70s. Man, I just think I would die if I lived in a place that cold. Yikes!!
I'm completely with you on the furniture shopping. Hubs and I have two large couches and neither is really comfy. LOL But honestly we'd rather sit on them than go to a furniture. Hah. One of them is an old Ikea couch that he picked up after college. It's brown fabric and all of the fabric is removable, I just pull it off and toss it in the washer and dryer. I love that aspect of it. With four little boys dragging in every possible kind of mess known to man, it's really nice to be able to wash the whole couch whenever I need to. The other is red suede and the boys don't sit on it much. It's big and has a sofa bed underneath and it's awful to sit on. I think the frame is messed up, but again, I hate shopping for furniture. Hopefully some others can be more helpful.
Last few days have been carb heavy and I'm feeling run down. A sure sign I'm slacking on protein. I'm fixing that today.

I don't mind couches. I am not a fan of the love seat though. I feel I don't want someone that close to me. I love my chair and ottoman. I love a big cozy chair.
I am very excited I have a snow day today. I have been slacking on housework for weeks. So today is the day. I get stuff done.
B:Coffee
L: Eggs
D:Salad
Have a good day.
Thanks for the surgiversary wishes yesterday! But I should clarify, my loss includes pre op!
Oh man, I can talk couches for days! I spent way too much time researching this. I love our sectional! We have a dog who hangs out on the couch with us. I brought home the fabric samples and literally rubbed them on him to see how easy they were to clean. We agonized over switching to fabric from leather. Couple of things:
when shopping, take photos!and ideally notes about what you like about it. They all blur together.
Think about how you use your couch. I.e. My husband is 6'2, and broad. We wanted something he could stretch out on. I like to read, so I want arms that are at a nice height for me to prop my elbow on. We host fairly often and wanted something that's conducive to entertaining.
tighter the weave, the easier the care. I vaccum it once a week, and then give a quick roll with a lint roller. If your dogs have needle like fur, you'll want a tight weave.
I also picked a colour that lets the dog hair blend In haha.
Ideally, you want a hardwood frame.
leather is significantly more expensive, is lower maintenance than fabric, but only 100% real leather ages well.
So, for our budget, we opted for higher quality construction, but fabric covering. We also went with medium density foam. So far I'm glad. Soft enough to settle in to watch a movie, firm enough that when you have company over, you aren't all slouched into the couch.
everything is negotiable. And different companies carry the same lines. They will price match. Other things to negotiate: free delivery, extra throw cushions, the cost of upgrading your fabric. You won't get all of that thrown in, but a lot of it.
like I said, I like to talk couches....
menu:
B: scrambled egg with feta
L: leftover steak chili

QOTD: Sorry no suggestions here. I am in desperate need of new furniture as well but with surgery costs, a planned Disney World vacation in July, and trying to save for a house down payment...there is no room in the budget for that right now.
Menu:
Last night my husband ended up taking us out to eat so I didn't cook...which means I don't have left overs for lunch. Since I start liquids Monday there isn't a whole lot in the house so my menu is slack.
B- protein shake
S- yogurt and P3
L- protein shake
S- cheese cubes, grapes
D- Chicken and green beans

Good morning! Snow day in MA! 18" expected with blizzard conditions for much of the day. There are over 720 school closings, including all 6 of mine! You should have heard the cheers in our office when that last school finally announced closing yesterday. Epic. I'm still "working from home" but I'll have lots of time to play. Today's exciting challenge? Sous Vide egg bites! Sous Vide Steak! Instant Pot Pot Roast! Hoping we might have another snow day tomorrow, too because I really want to make Greek Yogurt in the Instant Pot, too!
QOTD: I loooooved my couch that I had in my condo. It was a giant grey microfiber couch with a giant ottoman. It was the best place to "land" after a long hard day. Now, Grim has a little couch in the bedroom and we like to watch tv upstairs there in the evening. The problem is that it only has one arm, so after sitting there for a few minutes, the cushions separate and I inevitably end up "in the hole". It's impossible to get up, and we laugh about it all the time :)
As I said, I'm pretty excited about all of the food possibilities today! But I'm not sure exactly what's happening yet. My plan is:
B: Fit Frappe Mocha
S: Sous Vide Egg Bite!
L: Sous Vide Ribeye!
D: Instant Pot Pot Roast!
S: Brown Rice Cake with 1tbsp PB
Get back in your hole!
