Today is my Surgiversary. NSV included!!
Yay today is my Surgiversary. To think a year ago I was on a pain pump at this time hitting morphine thinking OMG this isn't gonna hurt forever and the thought of getting out of bed the next morning was excruciating.
Overall I have lost 282 pounds on my journey in 22 months and since I hoped up on the table I have lost 188 pounds. I cant understand how i did all those years with the weight. Physically I am feeling so much better.
I went to my surgeon today. Had a great visit and then after found out I was denied for plastics cause im 11 pounds off and my surgeon didn't specify what areas need to addressed on the referral. Yay insurance. Im thinking "hello, by the time i get an appointment those 11 pounds will be gone and as far and what areas, let me just strip for you in your office. You will see what areas lol. So today has been bittersweet. It isn't out of my reach but its just been pushed back :(
My NSV
Last week I was laying down and I sat up. When I did , I had my hand on my abdomen. I know I have some little hernia that the surgeon isn't worried about along the incision line (open surgery). So My first thought was "OH No, I have a hernia. It was bulging when i sat forward. I called my son in to lay his hand on my stomach to feel and i felt on the the other side and OMG!!! I felt another one. I got to examining and then realization hit me. Those are my abs!!!!!!!! My son of course like any good son laughed. I said "hey, you have to understand where im coming from. I have been big my whole teen and adult life. I never have felt my abs before. But hard in the gym is paying off."
I'm excited for year two. I'm hoping that I will reach my maintenance weight by this year. We will see. Good luck to those on their journey and those who are considering one be it surgery or non surgical it is achievable.
Congratulations!

Congrats!
My plastic surgeon wanted me at goal weight for 1 year before plastics. I had a fleur de lis abdominoplasty and brachioplasty (arms). Rough surgery and recovery, but successful. I'd love to have bum and thighs done but don't want to go through the pain of more plastics - so I just keep them covered!
Best wishes,
Penny
Wow, what an inspiration you are! That's a lot of weight to lose, and you did it! You must be so proud of yourself!
I'm sorry about the plastics; hopefully next time you meet everything will go smoothly and you'll be given the go ahead.

Congratulations! It's great that you have insurance that will even consider covering the surgeries.
