Good morning everyone! We prepared another batch of beef jerky last night so that's marinating in the fridge right now and we'll start dehydrating in a few hours. I'll be heading out after I type this to get my blood work done and then it's back home to clean some before my BFs parents stop by this afternoon. I try to keep things looking good but their house always looks like it's staged it's so shiny clean. They great people and I don't think they are judging me or anything but I just want everything done and it's a good excuse to get him to step up his cleaning game.
QOTD I'm not a hearts and flowers kinda girl. I think cut flowers are a waste of money, especially at Valentines prices, and it wasn't my sweet tooth that got me to 386 lbs so a box of chocolates doesn't really interest me either. In the past I may have requested something like a picture frame or some other small want but this year we've already discussed that we won't be buying each other anything. We'll make dinner together and probably spend the evening on the couch together which isn't the norm for us.
B- coffee w/ SF hazelnut
L- 4 slices deli chicken and 1 tbs quacamole
D- cajun chicken breast
S- protein cappuccino, 2 turkey bites
Totals 488 cal, 80g protein, 10g carbs
Have a great day!

good morning DD2, thank you for being here and sharing your life with us. Today I am feeling very grateful for all of you guys here. Still sending good thoughts and saying prayers for your mother and family. My mom had a pretty bad cancer scare last fall. She is a long time smoker and they told her that she had a spiculated lesion in her lung after a cancer screening. The instance of lung cancer with a spiculated lesion is like 95%, and with 40+ years of smoking, we all thought the worst. It was scary and stressful. She was so lucky that it turned out to be nothing when she had a PET scan. She had been sick with a mild case of pneumonia about a month before the first screening and they believe it was just scar tissue or something from her illness that looked like a cancerous lesion. So, she's cancer free at this point, but the fear and uncertainty that we felt for about a month when she was going through all the testing was horrendous.
DD2QOTD: So funny that this is the QOTD today. just last night my hubby said "Please, let's not do chocolate for Valentines day this year." He recently went to his group informational session for WLS and is waiting to get in to meet the surgeon to start the process. But, we do like to celebrate, but we're going small this year. In the past, he's gotten me some really awesome jewelry, which I LOVE, but we're trying to pay off some bills so we can clear up our debt and THEN he can buy me awesome jewelry. I'll probably get him a card and maybe a small token gift that I know he'll enjoy. Not sure what yet, but I better get on it since I only have 6 days. I'm sure I'll pick something up this weekend. I usually get my kids one of those small boxes of chocolate that has like 4 pieces in it.

This is so funny... My BF and I had , what I considered, a first date on Feb 14 also. We met and talk and talk and talk... That day I realized that he is not only cute but also smart, funny , interesting and...BF material. That was it for me.. later on I found out he was interested in me for a few months but was not sure how to approach me.
We have been together 6 years now...
Chocolate- sure ..Why not. I often eat 85-86% dark chocolate...not much. And use milk chocolate when I get severe RH... To bring my sugar up. We have stack of different chocolate in the house all the time.
Knowing that I can have as much as I want the 85% chocolate was a breakthrough for me. I sometimes have 1 square... Eating it very slowly...And that is more than my body wants.
I use my 86-90% chocolate to make "chocolate-almond" butter. Melt the chocolate - add almond butter- I also add some liquid stevia (not a lot) ...Mix it well... Set aside. Yummy treats for when I want a TBS of it...
Milk chocolate causes RH for me. So I really dislike it now. Plus by now it is way too sweet for me... Even when I get really low sugar and need to quickly bring it back - I gag on most of sugary things..or almost any food. So far the chocolate will stay down...
Honey does not buy me chocolate.. I buy them ..For me and him. A lot. He is my "surrogate chocolate stomach" lol. Our tradition for Valentine's is to go to our local "comedy show with dinner served". We live this place and he makes the reservation for us to go. Plus often he gets me flowers.
I need to think of something to get him. ugh.

Good morning Daisy and menu friends, The ice storm was pretty bad yesterday, but we didn't lose power so that's good. Extremely emotional day here. It's the 1st anniversary of Meghans passing. It dosen't seem possible that a year has gone by already. Friends will be dropping by today and tonight we're going to a pub with a bunch of her friends. Not going to be hard on myself if I make some poor choices.
QOTD : Valentines day, wow was that a lot of pressure for a first date. I don't want chocolates for valentine's day. Slippery slope for me too. Now I wouldn't say no to a nice pair of earrings.
