What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?
on 2/8/17 3:32 am - GTA, Ontario, Canada
Hi everyone, Happy Wednesday! We got hit bad with an ice storm yesterday, and its at that temp where the salt ice melter you buy won't melt the ice, so our front steps and driveway and sidewalks are sheer ice, its crazy!
I can't begin to express my gratitude for all of you who I have come to call my "other family, my OH family" for all your love, prayers, support, kind words, offers to help and personal messages on the news of my Mom's breast cancer. I had tears of joy as I read each and every one of your posts yesterday. I am still feeling quite overwhelmed and sad today, still processing all this. My Mom is still not ready to talk so I texted her yesterday and just said "I love you and we are going to beat this, together, as a family." Hoping she is up for having visitors on the weekend, we shall see. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you my friends, even though we are all "virtual" I truly felt the love & support, don't know what I would do without you all
QOTD: Let's talk Valentines Day! How do post ops feel about chocolates? Would you be mad if your sweetie got you candy/chocolate for Valentines Day? Would you be mad if they didn't get you candy/chocolates? Would you be mad either way? And if you say no chocolates, are you just saying that, or do you mean it? Or are you anti-Valentines Day? What do you want from your Valentine? Valentines Day is the day hubby and I celebrate our 1st date together so next week is our 17th anniversary of our 1st date. I personally don't want chocolates, and I am not just saying that. Sweets/chocolate are a trigger for me and a slippery slope so no. Since its the anniversary of our 1st date each Feb 14th we always go out to our fav Steak restaurant (The Keg for my Canadian friends) so if I don't get a steak dinner then I would be pissed, screw the candy & chocolates, give me Filet Mignon!! LOL LOL Now Easter... that is different, I better get some of those damn Easter Creme Eggs!!

Morning!! I'm glad your are giving your Mom space until she is ready to talk about it. Sometimes we trip over ourselves to help and become a burden to those we want to help. I'm sure she appreciates your thoughts.
I'm Actually still in bed- have to take the kids to the Orthodontist today- both have braces mishaps that need fixing. I'll go into work later. On Monday I had a horrible case of dumping thanks to some apple crumb pie (that's what I get for showing my patriotism!). Last time I experienced it that bad was months ago when I ate some Chinese- thinking brown rice would be 'good'. I could barely stand up straight all night-- ugg-- Lesson learned. I feel like my tummy is just getting back in track.
Valentines Day- I currently have a bag of Hershey's kisses in our snack basket. It's been there for over a week and I'll grab two every so often. Thats the extent of chocolate I desire. My v-day tradition is chocolate covered strawberries. We'll buy a 1/2 dozen for hubby and I to enjoy. Thats all I really want- look forward to. We won't go out. Hubby proposed on Valentine's Day- so it's hard to do better than that.

Very good point Peach about giving Mom space! Ugh braces mishaps, yup been there when I was a teenager! Hope it goes well!
I don't dump (thank god) but I do get RH bad so I feel your pain, feel better!
OMG why didn't I think of chocolate covered strawberries!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, I am putting that on the grocery list to make some this weekend!
Have a great day!
QOTD: I am not post-op yet but I had already told my husband no chocolates. Now I am going to be on my liquid diet so there will definitely be no chocolate. But he has agreed to do the liquid diet with me. His cardiologist needs him to loose some weight so that they can do his heart echo and get good results. So at least I wont be suffering alone! I hinted to my husband that I would rather get a pedicure before I go into surgery....we shall see if he picked up on that! lol
Exercise: Both my husband and myself went to the gym this morning :D It makes me so happy when he goes with me.
Breakfast: protein shake
Snack: P3 and yogurt
Lunch: Meat loaf
Dinner: Chicken and a vegetable of some sort

Morning everyone!
Trip to Montreal was a success, we made it back before the freezing rain hit too, so double success.
Today is my 5 month surgiversary! I'm down 115lbs. I'm so, so happy I made this decision. And that I found this forum.
qotd: we don't have many traditions regarding Valentine's Day. Sometimes we celebrate, sometimes we don't. It's not a big thing for us.
Menu:
B: protein shake
L: dill tuna with 1/2 a live organic wrap
D: I'm going to try to make a steak chili. We'll see how that goes!
have a great day everyone! Off to read yesterday's posts!
