Hi everyone. I'm tossing out a Mom brag. My son was accepted to the top high school in the city (also one of the best in the state). He was the only student from his class accepted-- and he got accepted to 4 of his 5 picks. Ensuring my kids get a quality education has been a full-time job since they were in pre-school. Moving has been a serious consideration for us, if the school choices didn't pan out. I feel such a sense of relief, and excitement. I'm super proud of him.

QOTD: I'm an introvert. But I'm not meek- I like to describe myself as 'strength under control'. I stand mighty fine on my own- am not the type that needs moral support etc. Sometime it can get lonely- but I warmly embrace not being caught up in friendship drama. There has been no change in me pre/post op, I've always been the same.

Congratulations to your son!!! I know that is a great accomplishment! Here, we have no choices for the schools, it all goes by where you live. And that's that. Fortunately, for a crap state with education statistics, we're in one of the top districts.

I imagine you as a very strong person! I admire that about you.

Hi Daisy and menu folks!

OMG I am an off the chart extrovert!  I have always been that way.  I have actually tested as such (Meyers-Briggs) and I embrace being an outgoing person who gets energy from others.  That's why transitioning to work from home instead of in a social office was difficult for me, but I love the flexibility so I deal :)

I am glad you loved the game - I was SURE the Falcons had the game sewn up at halftime but it just goes to show, anything can happen!  I had my first Instant Pot fail.  I made honey garlic chicken and the sauce was good but I used chicken thighs (with bones and skin) and there wasn't much meat and the skin was rubbery.  Julia - I love love love my IP and I use it a couple of times a week!  Sometimes it's just how I cook up a chicken breast for lunch with some stock.  It's fast and amazing.  I am still getting used to if I am supposed to let the pressure out manually or let it do it's thing...

Since it was my bf's son's birthday, we went out to dinner and had Reese's pie on Friday - I sent that out of the house Saturday, to avoid temptation!  I made some homemade mac and cheese yesterday as a treat (with bacon and dijon mustard!) and it was delicious.

Time Since Surgery: 3+ years

B: Costco rotisserie chicken salad

L: Costco rotisserie chicken salad on a croissant

D: Pan seared dover sole with leftover mac and cheese

E: Going to the gym at lunch and will elliptical while I watch Top Chef (I love cooking shows and I do see the irony of watching them while exercising!)

Vitamin patches are on!

Have a great day, all!

In chicken I tend to almost undercook when i choose the minutes-then don't use quick release on the iP for chickens and other meat that tends to dry out.. I just turn it all off, wait 5-10 min then get it out.

Morning everyone!  Monday has arrived and demands that we treat it with the respect it has earned through a lifetime of "HA! No more weekend for you suckers!" and "How 'bout that alarm clock now? Buahahahah!!" Monday...you evil witch. Blarhg.

The weekend was overall good. Our son had a crazy run in on Friday evening. He was going to stay at a sleep over birthday party and I am always nervous letting him be out of the house over night.  Since he is transgender I fret that the parents will be weird or something bad will happen. It is stressful but I decided to let him go. He calls me an hour or so into it and says, "I think you need to come a get me. So-and-so's father just got into a fist fight with So-and-so's father and mother.  The cops are on their way.  I am locked in a bedroom." Needless to say I lost my ever loving mind and raced to get him. It was awful.  We ended up taking three teenagers home with us including the poor birthday kid whose father had been one of the parents in the fight. The cops were indeed there.  There was a bloody face and a broken hand.  It was crazy. I calmed all the kids down, stopped at the grocery store and bought them ice cream and dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, and they all finally fell asleep late into the night. Arrrrggg. So stressful. It was like an episode of Cops but with my poor kid starring in it.  When we got there the birthday kid's mom was saying, "I'm so sorry!  Nothing like this has ever happened. We aren't crazy."  I was thinking she seemed pretty damn crazy at that moment.

Saturday we did finally get our fridge replaced. Yay! We all slept late and did very little as we recovered from the stress of the night before. Sunday we ended up going to a little Super Bowl gathering of friends and it was a lovely end to a crazy week. And now Monday is here staring me down. Wheee!

QOTD: I am an extroverted introvert. I do the public speaking thing and the social interactions stuff at parties but I feel like I am going to throw up in my shoes the whole time. I love people and being around people but it is also draining and makes me nervous. I am the yin and the yang all at once.

Menu: B: Chobani Simply 100 "Crunch" (have not made my fresh batch of Greek yogurt...planning to do that tonight); L: Stonybrook Fat Free Greek yogurt, 1/2 tbs coco powder and 1/4 cup Rice Crispies; D: Meeting the Guy out for dinner (likely steak) as he begins ANOTHER 6 weeks of training where he stays in Austin Blah to that too; S: Grapes

Accountability: Weighed in at 122.6 this morning.  Holding steady and happy with that. Still struggling with this new heart med and getting adjusted but it is improving.  I am feeling less forgetful...then again...would I remember that I was forgetting things? Mystery. Chantix start is scheduled for next Monday. Night time snacking was really good this weekend except for after the fight thing Friday night I bought some crackers while I was buying the kids ice cream and stuff. Didn't eat much of it that night but last night when the Guy left and I was home alone I had a binge. There was definitely some cracker and cheese action that happened. I have 6 weeks of evenings at home so I am going to get serious about not having any crackers of any kind in the house.  I can adjust for night time snack in MFP and make it part of my plan.  If there are only good choices in the house I think I will do fine. All the crackers went into the garbage this morning.

Hope you all have a great day and week.
