Suggestions for books?

Hello! Has anyone read "The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion: A Practical Guide for Coping with Post-Surgery Emotions by Tanie Miller Kabala Ph.D."? Is sounds/looks interesting and is backed by bariatric surgeons and nurses as per the book description.

I read another post where the person recommended BECK DIET SOLUTION : TRAIN YOUR BRAIN TO THINK LIKE A THIN PERSON by JUDITH S BECK . It's not geared specifically for WLS patients but looks like a good reference too. Any feedback on that one?

Is there other books, cookbooks or references that you would recommend? I'm personally thinking that I will need help deal with the psychological aspect while in post-surgery as I know that part is greatly associated with why I gained weight in the first place. Although I now know that I can come in here anytime and post a question or ask for help and a bunch of you are always eager and generous of your time to help someone

Any input would be appreciated.

I've read the Beck Diet solution (pre-op). I liked it and still use techniques they outlined in everyday life. It's a worthy read IMO

Not weight loss surgery specific but really just awesome is Slim by Design it's by the Dr that wrote Mindless Eating if you've seen that book which is also awesome but Slim by Design basically gives you little tips for changing your environment that if you put into practice you will save tons of calories a year (and so probably added pounds) all evidence based with the Cornell Food & Science Lab... really really interesting studies on our behaviors and how the environment around us... house, office, etc. affect us without us realizing. The author was a speaker at the Your Weight Matters National Convention last year and literally the day after I bought it.

I've had a couple friends refer me to Shrink Yourself  -- I'll give it a try at some point but I will be doing what I can to see an actual therapist.  Does your insurance cover therapy?

My surgeon's office gave a list of recommended reading as well but I haven't looked through it yet.

I just read Fresh Start Bariatric Cookbook by Sarah Kent. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1623157730/ref=oh_aui_deta ilpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has alot of info as well as great recipes with nutritional info. I was impressed. Read it cover to cover.

I love the author Geneen Roth. She doesn't espouse any plan or diet per se, but talks about the emotional components of disordered relationships with food. She also talks alot about mindfulness.

Geneen Roth has great advice - but for whatever reason, her books trigger my emotional eating. So I had stop reading them! I've chatted with other people who had the same reaction.
