What's on Your Sunday Menu, RNYers?
on 2/5/17 3:54 am
Good morning everyone! It's Sunday for the rest of you but I am only 1/2 way through a 4 day weekend!
So far, in my 2 days off, I had an appointment with my surgeon and NUT, and then we hopped down to Providence RI for the night. We stayed at a really nice boutique hotel, and saw Lewis Black at the Performing Arts Center. It was great. We walked around Providence a little bit yesterday, but it was REALLY cold and the wind was especially biting. So instead, we stalked the last Target with an Instant Pot left in stock and grabbed it! I'll let Grim tell you the hilarious story about picking it up from the hold center...hahahaha.
Anyway, I came home and read approximately 48,395,739 recipes, and settled on a Maple Beef Brisket for my first attempt. I went to 3 grocery stores but everyone was sold out of brisket (seriously?) so I had to improvise on Plan B. I went with a slightly-modified-for-less-sugar version of Sweet and Sour Shrimp over Riced Cauliflower. It was very tasty but the shrimp was overcooked and a little chewy. I'm sure there is a learning curve. Today I am going to make homemade Greek Yogurt, and a Parmesan Spaghetti Squash. Grim is going to experiment with a Pot Roast. We ought to have plenty of food tonight for our ONE friend who is coming to watch the game with us, LOL!
QOTD: Lewis Black had a really hilarious part of his stand up routine when he was ranting on and on about the different flavors you can get of Candy Corn. He actually brought on stage a bag of Brunch Flavored Candy Corn! It has three kinds: French Toast & Maple Syrup, Waffles & Strawberry, and Chocolate Chip & Pancakes. Eeeeewwww! So my question for you today, is: What is the grossest or most ridiculous food item you have seen recently? Can anything top Brunch Flavored Candy Corn?
Here is the plan for today. My nutritionist asked me to start eating more veggies. I am wholly unconvinced that it will help my hunger, but I am willing to try anything. 18 months post op, 117lbs today.
B: 1/2 Fit Frappe Mocha
S: 2 Babybel Cheese & Carrots
L: Sweet and Sour Shrimp over Riced Caluiflower
S: Homemade Greek Yogurt (not sure about my mix-ins yet)
D: Pot Roast and Parmesan Spaghetti Squash
(+ treats--i'd be remiss if I didn't mention that we stopped at a Chocolate shop and brought some goodies home, so... I'll try to limit myself!)
Below are some pics from this weekend. First, on our way to dinner (don't we clean up nice?). And the second is Grim with a Pig. Because...Grim with a Pig.

Good Morning. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time!! Enjoy it :) Sweet and sour shrimp over cauliflower rice sound amazing!!! I will have to look up a recipe for that! Yesterday was a very busy day at work and stressful as usual. But I was able to leave a couple of hours early to go to a family birthday party. Was nervous about going to the party (as I usually am) because a few of the hubby's family members I don't care for were going to be there. Party was not as bad as I built it up to be (never is), but wasn't how I would have enjoyed to spend my evening either. By the time we got home husband was asking to try the Five Guys bunless burger we heard about and I just agreed to not have to put thought into dinner. Well it was delicious but no doubt fat was out of this world!! So yesterday's menu ended up looking like this:
B: coffee
L: yogurt and meat stick
D: five guys bunless cheese burger, small amount of vegetables and fruit from party
S: pepperoni stick
Today I will do better.
You and Grim are just so cute! Glad you had a nice time.
Birthday cake flavored anything makes me cringe...lol Since surgery just someone mentioning something greasy makes my stomach turn inside out, I hope I will always have this feeling because I used to love fried foods!

Good morning guys
JB you guys are so adorable. The IP is definitely a learning curve, at least when it comes to meats - I made a pot roast in it a couple weeks ago and it was like, tasty leather....quite chewy. The yogurt function is my absolute favorite, I like making it plain and Pat got me a Euro Cuisine strainer for Christmas....which beats the wonky setup of coffee filters, colanders and bowls I was using before that. Anywhoo, I think that my little guy is finally done puking....we made it overnight without anything coming up. Thus far both Pat and I aren't feeling sick, so crossing my fingers that we dodged this germ bullet No plans today other than watching the game this evening!
QOTD: I think Brunch Flavored Candy Corn might be the winner, especially since I think regular candy corn is disgusting....I'm trying to think of something I've seen recently that might be just as gross....maybe Orange Crush flavored pop-tarts? I didn't try them, but I took a picture of them and texted them to Pat because I was so horrified at the idea....ick!
MENU:
I never went back and edited yesterday's menu in, but it was really mostly just protein shakes, rotisserie chicken, jello, and water
Today:
B: Decaf coffee w/fairlife milk and stevia, premier protein shake
S: Coco-wheats w/fairlife milk
L: Chicken, green veggie - maybe broccoli
S: TBD
D: TBD
Have a great Sunday guys!

Morning!
you guys are too cute! We're hosting Super Bowl today. Had to google who was playing again hahha I'm so hardcore! But seriously, go Falcons!
qotd: that's so gross. Has a Bertie Botts every flavour Bean vibe. I think the weirdest thing I've seen in real is a grapple. It was literally an apple infused with grape juice flavouring. Why? Are People feeling like they are missing out because crunchy grapes don't exist? Tired of apples being too apple-y?
Menu:
B: protein shake
L/D: my family is coming over early to play games, so I'm not completely sure of the timing of what I will eat, but it will include: warm buffalo chicken dip with veggies. A bit of beef from hot dip sliders, sans bun. A couple of chicken wings, and avocado salad.
Have a great Sunday everyone!
