Hi,

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I'm 4 days post op and can tolerate premier protein shakes (yesterday I tried chocolate and liked it and my pouch was good with it), and so far, the vanilla premier protein is going down good today.  I like that it's thin and not thick or chalky.

I loved the chicken broth I had last night, and was OK with water until I woke up in the middle of the night with the grossest taste in my mouth and the water was like sewage.  I went to brush my teeth and it went away a bit but the water tastes gross. I tried adding some sugar free flavoring to it and it was even worse.  So I squirted some biotene dry mouth spray and that helped a bit, but the water still tastes awful. It's just tap water but I was fine with it yesterday. I'm going to ask my friend to get me some bottled water today.

I still can't tolerate cream soups, my pouch doesn't like them, but am good with clear soups and like having something warm to drink.  I can also do sf jello with no problems. I'm going to try some peppermint tea later.

I would bet that the sewage taste you experienced is acid. Therefore, avoid the peppermint tea for a bit. Peppermint will make it worse.

Thank you! I totally understand about the water & cream soups. I do drink bottled water now, and it seems better. I can't do isopure drinks... SF popsicles are working so far. I'm sorry you're having trouble too, hopefully we can get through this together!

I think it's normal, your whole system changes. Your only one week post op, your supposed to having protein shakes anyway.  When you start introducing food again see what you like and don't like. Things I used to like, I can't tolerate anymore. Good luck

It gets easier. Trust me.

As Bassetthounds said, it will get it easier!

One week post op the only thing I could eat was clear liquid soups, SF jello, protein shakes(Premier Protein worked well for me) and SF ice-pops.

I'm on a clear liquid diet for the first two weeks.  Except protein shakes.  I know it sucks.  I was constipated for several days and now the exact opposite! :(  Our systems have such an adjustment to make!  Hang in there!!!

That's exactly my experience. It is too funny how our intestines can't make up their minds, eh LOL

Thank you!! I will definitely hang in there. It's been an adjustment. I had a hernia repair at the same time, so that could mess with things too, I think. :( but I'm glad that I did it.
