What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
Variety is an important healthy part of human dietary choices from evolution on. It is a real thing to want more than one food item because your body knows this gives you a better chance of having all your nutritional needs met. I always make sure there are at least two different colors/textures with each meal. That is one of the big reasons I have grapes or blueberries with my yogurts for breakfast. That change in texture helps my brain feel I have covered all the needed categories. Just yogurt feels like a snack. Just grapes feels like a snack. Grapes with yogurt...MEAL! LOL Brains are weird but for me learning to work with the hard wiring and editing the parts that I know to be pure crazy train is more useful than trying to overthrow all the norms in my brain.
To heck with just a pile of meat...! Get that variety. Just my 2 cents worth.

I hear you on the "more than one thing" on the plate. I'm TIRED of just eating 3 oz of chicken, or deli sliced ham and calling it a "meal." My heart and soul needs texture and variety, but my head is telling me to be happy and satisfied with the pile of [fill in the protein of the day]. If you come up with a solution, please share. I'm suffering from diet fatigue big time and it's truly getting to me.
Plan on being Fabulous today- sounds good!
So been trying to cut back as I was at the high end of my maintenance range and cross over into the 'oh cr**' number... so sticking pretty closely to just protein and a few green veggies... trying to up my water with flavor as well... so down 4lbs since Monday. Whew!
Last night I went out with some of my old Homeschooling days girlfriends. We all graduated our kids from homeschooling and get together several times a year to catch up. So much fun, we went to Ruby Tuesdays at 5PMish and they kicked us out at 10PM... yes, left a great tip...
I want to say Ruby Tuesdays is very do-able. They re-did their salad bar and the most offerings are cut up/chopped into tiny little pieces. So it made it easy to eat. I asked for their Turkey Burger with a chicken patty instead and no bun... as I liked the toppings. It had a slice of swiss, a slice of avocado and bacon on it... and I got the side of grilled zucchini - all really good. They had plenty of steak offerings as well, but had just eaten steak the night before. So that is my restaurant review...

My stay at home mom-friends and I used to frequent the Ruby Tuesday's a lot! Their salad bar was always good!
We don't have any of them here in Oklahoma City. I dont' do many chain restaurants, but I would always go there for the great salad bar... oh and the really nice bartender that knew how to take care of a bunch of moms, too!

Hello Menu Crew! I am fairly new here. When I had sleeve surgery 6 years ago, lurked on this site and did not really participate. I promised myself that this time I would do everything differently...starting with telling everyone about my WLS and being active here. From what I have seen from the vets, the ones with support and accountability are the most successful.
QOTD: I am having a few friends over for the game. They will all bring appetizers to share and I'm sure some will not be WLS friendly. Therefore, I am making several options I can and enjoy on Sunday and throughout the week, Spicy Chicken Meatballs, Portobello Mushroom Pizza and Zucchini Tots.
