What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
I forgot to respond to the implied, secondary QOTD: I'm not really a stress eater or an angry eater. If anything, I tend not to eat when I'm stressed or upset. Boredom, yes, I've done that. Nothing going on - might as well eat. So I have to try to keep my mind occupied.
My other eating problem, like Grim's, was more mindless eating. Plus I always loved food - trying new things, cooking, trying all the new restaurants. Plus my old social life revolved around food - meeting friends for lunch and dinner. Like - a lot. Like - several times a week. And of course, I'd always clean my plate, even though it was usually enough for two or three people - two or three "normies", that is... With all this, I was packing away a ton of calories.
Morning all! Homeschool co op day, and so like every co op day I am sitting around drinking coffee far too long so I can run around like a crazy person later.
No Super Bowl party here. We are not sports people here. Often on Super Bowl weekend we are like, "hmm, I think the super bowl is today...do you know who's playing?" Lol.
Breakfast- hmm. Made muffins for the kids last night for an easy breakfast this morning. I will grab a couple turkey sticks and a couple laughing cow cheeses. Coffee and milk of course.
Lunch- packing a chicken salad...the green kind.
Snack- we have the Pizza Hut reading coupons the kids need to use up so we will be stopping there today. I will get a small order of chicken wings.
Dinner- chicken breast and roasted veg... I have some peppers, red onion, a jar of artichokes...
snack- 100 cal chobani flip
Have a lovely day!

Hi Daisy and everyone,
Hmmm mad eating...I don't think I fall into that category. Bored and stress eating, now I INVENTED that category. I remember being about a month out from surgery and I had a super stressful day at work, and I got home and ate my planned dinner (a chicken sausage) and I was full after half of it, and I was like, oh crap. I have to DEAL with my emotions, and not get home and eat a large pizza! It was eye-opening for sure.
My BF is obsessed with football. His team isn't playing Sunday but we will watch. I think he's in a bit of a depression now that college football and NFL are over. That's a big focus of his for the 5 months a year that it's on! I have always gone to parties in the past, mostly to watch the ads. I am usually asked to bring my famous guacamole. But this year I think we will have his kids and stay at home. I plan to make a spinach artichoke dip (I am sure the kids won't touch it with a 10 foot pole) and some honey garlic chicken thighs. I also got chips and cheese dip for the kids.
Your menu looks divine. Mine is pretty decent today. Remember all, I am 3+ years out, so my menu will look much different than a new pre-op!
B: Trader Joe's jalapeno chicken sausage, coffee
L: Turkey and cheese sandwich at Potbelly after my dentist appointment
S: Maybe popcorn? Depends when I fit the gym in
D: Panang curry chicken with snow peas (got a spice packet at this awesome place called Jungle Jim in Cincinnati and you mix it with coconut milk) and rice for the BF, maybe chicken potstickers for me.
E: The dentist appt is throwing off my whole day, but we will go after work if needed, and I will do the elliptical. I have to get back to 3-4 days a week at the gym!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Oh, and as a side note, I am obsessed obsessed obsessed with my patches from patchMD and my Instant Pot. Both make my life infinitely easier and better!!!!
I'm still getting used to the patches. It feels so odd not to take pills at regularly scheduled intervals. After almost 3 years, it was part of my being. Of course, I forgot to put my patches on this morning, so I'll have to do it tonight and sleep with them on. Hopefully I can make it a habit so my numbers don't tank.
I should have done labs right before I started them and then tracked. But I am curious to see labs in a few months. I keep my patches next to my body lotion - every morning after my shower I put on lotion and patches. I seriously love them. I would happily never chew another chalky calcium pill again!

ha ha Em I knew you would chime in on the QOTD with BF being a football lover! Well now that football season is over what will you guys do? I know you said he is a health nut, does this mean daily trips to the gym or menu planning? I am sure it will be fun whatever you two do.
I must try Emily's famous guac one day. I could eat that stuff for a meal! Maybe how people do buffalo chicken you should create an guac chicken? And invite me over okay!
Hope the dentist went well! I hate the dentist!
I second the patches, they are the bomb, not an IP user yet... maybe one day, I need to get the hang of my crockpot first ha ha
He is seriously so sad about no more football! Right now he is watching all of the coverage on signing day - who knew that an entire day is dedicated to high school kids picking their college. I don't know what we will do other than the draft that he will watch religiously in the Spring :)
My guac is SO simple, but good! It's literally avocado, diced white onion, jalapeño, salt and tons of fresh lime juice. But people love it. I can definitely invite you over for buffalo chicken dip and guac! You are welcome anytime!!!
Yeahhhhh...the dentist sucked. I had lots of tartar build-up so I needed a "deep cleaning" which scraped and hurt, and cost me $100 out of pocket. Sigh...
I am glad you turned me onto the patches!!!
Good Morning! It's Friday-eve people! Have a few meetings today but hope to get caught up on some other work that I have had to set aside for a few weeks. We are getting some rain again so I think I'll get to wear my rain boots tomorrow-one last time before we are back to our normal dress code on Monday (one benefit from our busy time is we had casual days for the entire month).
Yes, I this group too!
