YAY!!

I'm still waiting to hear back....which is driving me nuts because my surgery is scheduled for 9 days from now.  I don't understand why they would schedule it without having insurance approval first, makes no sense to me.   Anyways, I have my pre-op appointments today so I'm going to ask about it, especially since yesterday I got a note from my surgeon's nurse asking me for records of my weight loss attempts prior to April 2016 (when I started seeing them) because now BCBS is asking them for those for all their patients.   I suspect, and I'll call BCBSNC to confirm this, that I'll be able to be grandfathered under the old guidelines since I started the process in April 2016.   Insurance drives me crazy

I was also thinking what Hala wrote, that wow you are preop and hardly eat anything!  Up until I had to do the 2 week liquid diet I ate as I normally would have, and I did have food funerals, looking back now I didn't know that I can and would eat all those things I thought I would never eat again but a much smaller portion of it.  So I didn't actually need food funerals.

Not sure if you drink a protein shake at breakfast for the convenience or you are not a eat when I wake up person.  A friend on FB shared a recipe the other day that I want to try it basically make scrambled eggs with whatever add ins you want, crumbled bacon, bell pepper, mushrooms and cheese, then take slices of deli ham and roll up a scoop of the scrambled egg mixture into the ham, line a baking pan with the ham/egg roll ups and bake for a few mins and voila! This is like the "World According to Eggface"her egg cups, which are yummy!! Do check out her website, so much amazing food for all stages of post op life, a lot of people love her ricotta bake, something to check out.

Snacks that will have more staying power to keep you full, hard boiled eggs, jerky, hard cheese and dill pickles.  Lunch what about a sandwich? Egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab salad.  You said you are trying to stay away from deli meat for the sodium for your hubby what about buying a rotisserie chicken and making some steamed veggies and having chicken & veggies. Chicken fajitas is a great meal, meat and veggie you can't go wrong. I eat a lot ground beef with a package of taco seasoning and I measure out 1/2 cup and put shredded cheese and sour cream on top. 1/2 fills me up but you could do a cup or more.  What about Chili or Shrimp ****tail?

I eat a lot of "food" at breakfast, I can eat tuna or shrimp for breakfast, so if you  can do why not?  Who says you have to have breakfast food in the AM?  Eat food!  I think you are doing a great job coming here on OH, posting a menu, but please give yourself some slack, you are pre op and its hard to eat like a post op.  Just don't want you to get discouraged before you have surgery because you are doing great!

Great advice Daisy! I've continued to eat like I did while losing, just adding a couple of small meals. I need to go up a bit right now due to loss after PS, but I am doing it by raising protein calories not by eating junk. Eating junk was what got me fat and I am NOT going back there.

QOTD: Intersting that you should ask this today.  I started on OH to get informed and did a lot of searching and lurking at first.  I planned to stay on it to keep accountable.  But I didn't expect all the new Friends!  One of the reasons I love this thread is because of the great interaction. And the SUPPORT for not only our weight, but everything in our lives, including ailing dogs!  I can't believe how many of you have reached out about Duchess - thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Duchess is home and doing okay!  It seems that she has idiopathic vestibular disease which affects the VIII cranial nerve causing severe vertigo. Vet said that they don't know what causes it but it should go away on its own (and she looks better this morning than yesterday). Apparently some people do have their dogs euthanized when they get this thinking it is a stroke, but she has the classic signs of vestibular disease. She was having problems walking because she thought she would fall over from being so dizzy (so she did). She can eat and sleep way better when the left side of her head and body are supported because then she doesn't feel like she is spinning. Who knew! Everyone is happy (including Duchess who was glad to leave the Vet and come back home, plus I think she likes having her "boy" attend to her and carry her up and down stairs).

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, English muffin and peanut butter

L: Leftover cheeseburger

D: Leftover irish stew (we are leaving for a Florida on Friday so leftovers need to be eaten)

S: Almonds, nut thins and hummus, protein bar

Dear Liz,

Oh, I'm so happy you didn't have to put Duchess down yesterday!  Prayers really do work!  Poor Duchess being so dizzy.  I'm so glad you found out what was wrong with her and are dealing with it.  Bless your son for being so attentive to her and carrying her up and down the stairs.  I will continue to keep her in my prayers for a full recovery!
