Good morning Menu Crew.
I've been following this thread for a while, sometimes chiming in and sometimes not but I have been consistent since my surgery. I definitely like how it helps me plan. But the bigger reason is that there are so many on here that have met and surpassed their goals. My centre told me a goal weight of 150 was too ambitious and they didn't want me to fail. I'm in this for the long haul and I didn't have my insides rearranged to settle. Seeing all the vets here who have done it and kept the weight off helps me realize this is possible. I belong to a local support group too but only a handful of them have reached a normal bmi.
Menu:
B: Vanilla premier protein- I'm able to tolerate these more now. I'm going to get some instant decaf as I think that will really make the vanilla delicious. We can only get chocolate and vanilla here.
L: Either leftover puréed curry chicken from last night or Greek yogurt with protein powder and sf jam.
D: whatever I didn't have at lunch
S: possibly protein pancakes with sf jam
On another note- my son found out last night he was accepted to college. We are so excited for him. He has accepted the offer to start in January. He has to save some money as he will need a car.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
Congrats to your son, how exciting!
During my psych eval I talked about my goal weight being 160...and she didn't discourage me exactly, but asked me why I picked that number and wanted me to examine what I would be truly be happy with. I think that a lot of programs don't want us to think in extremes....like if we don't get to that magic number then we're an utter failure of a person. I've decided I'm going to set small goals - getting to my pre-pregnancy weight, getting to my post-banding weight, getting below 200, etc. When I do that...it doesn't seem like such a steep slope to climb yknow?

I so much agree with this. My first goal was to weigh less than DH, then less than 250, then less than 225, now, less than 200....these four pounds....grrrrrr.....different story.
My major goal weight is 140, but I have small goals on the way there.

Everyone is different, I did set an arbitrary number, but set many mini goals along the way. I raised my goal as I got closer and had body fat testing done. Then I ended up just surpassing my original goal anyway. Picking a goal is a shot in the dark, once I got below 200, I said I'd take it 5lbs at a time... because you really don't know...

Congratulations to your son!!! What a great accomplishment!
The NUT never said a word to me about my goal of 145... but the last time I was in to see my Doc, I was 6 months out, and somewhere around 170... he made this poo-poo face when I told him that goal (and at that point I had already decided that maybe even a bit lower would be good, too), and told me that would be a very lofty goal. I'm scheduled to go in on the 21st of Feb, I'm 154 right now, I'd really like to walk in there at just under 150 at my 9 month appointment.
I think we can do whatever we put our minds to. Had I made my goal at 180, somehow I don't think I'd be as low as I am now... does that make sense?

My weight loss center set a goal for me (at the top of normal BMI). I used that as my original goal, but once there dropped it to what I thought I wanted my goal to be (I'm under that right now).

My doctor told me realistically I will only lose about 120-130 pounds which would leave me at 180-190??I agree with you, after being on here, I know I can do it, too!! I don't know what my final weight will be, but I'd like to be as far below 150 as I can get, preferably with a normal BMI.
