Just where is it going?

If we are on fewer calories than we burn, we are constantly losing fat. That doesn't mean we are losing weight. When the scale isn't moving, it's jus****er. When our bodies have reached the limit of excess water storage, it lets it go, and the scale drops.

This is why a lot of people lose in a stair-step pattern.

I lose that way.  It can take three weeks.  All of a sudden I pee constantly, every hour all day for a couple of days and then I have lost five pounds.  It is amazing.  I am starting to get used to it... lately I have only been weighing myself once a week or so.  It makes it less stressful when I know I am sticking to the program and do not lose weight.

Oh I know this (Honours degree in biochem/mol bio - not all newbies are uninformed)  I mean where is it holding the extra fluid?  Water whilst still more dense than fat it takes up volume too.  Why is it choosing to hold onto the water.  Why does it decide to give it up when it does.

All the mysteries. :D

I like to say that my body is just catching up to the scale!   While we see the pounds coming off by the numbers, we sometimes don't see the changes in a physical manner for a bit.  Then, boom, we see a huge difference in our ability to get into clothes we could not before.  When I used to hit stalls, I would be so frustrated that the scale was not moving, but yet I could get into clothes I couldn't a week prior.
