About 2 years ago I started seeing elevated liver enzymes in my bloodwork. The numbers kept climbing and everyone was freaking out. I was diagnosed with NASH, along with a number of other medical issues. Part of the reason I got off the fence about doing RNY was the intensity of concern by my doctors. The numbers ended up getting very high to the point that they took a liver biopsy during my Gastric procedure. The biopsy showed I have scaring of the liver and now must have bi-annual ultrasounds to monitor progression. Jump to today - Next week is my 3 month follow-up apt with the surgeon's PA and I updated my bloodwork. Almost everything is in the normal range. My liver enzymes are at the lower end of normal! I certainly need to hear it from the doctor, but I think this is good news. I jumped out of my chair when I saw the numbers. Down from almost 300 to 23.
Wow, Alan! That is great news!!!!! Keep up the good work.
All the best,

Congratulations Alan. That in itself is reason enough to have the RNY. I had elevated liver enzymes too and high triglycerides and cholesterol and uncontrolled high blood pressure on three pills prior to surgery. Along with diabetes. Now every time I have labs done every one is in the normal range and I'm off all meds but one low dose blood pressure pill. Keep up the great work and you will be amazed at all the victories you will see.
Woo Freaking Hoo!!!!!
Congratulations!!!
