Two weeks of protein shakes and nothing else then a bowel prep of magnesium citrate (entire dang bottle) the day before. The day before my surgery I worked half a day. Took the mag citrate at about 1pm and then it was off to the races for me!! Taking it as early as I did allowed me to get some sleep (as much as you can on the night before surgery, lol) before I had to get up and go to the surgery center.

Best of luck, and we will see you on the "other side"!

I only had liquids 48 hours prior. No prep, no problems.

Well, I heard from the nurse.  No bowel prep but the 'no eating or drinking after midnight'.  I decided to skip the Lean Cuisine and cup of veggies today and just drink a ton of liquids to hydrate well, and replace the LC with another shake, as the shakes are close but a bit fewer calories than the LCs.

Hopefully this will just flush out my system and I'll be hydrated for tomorrow.  Thanks for sharing your experiences!  (and for sharing on another thread what you bring to the hospital as that was also something they didn't cover except for "insurance card and ID".  I think a robe for walking up and down the halls and chapstick at least, probably also my phone & earbuds so I can listen to music and call my husband)

I'm excited but my anxiety is turned up to 11.

Hi,

Bowel prep is for the large intestine.  You're have surgery on your stomach and small intestine.

Your prep is your protein shakes to shrink your liver so they have a clearer field.

Talk to your doctor.  You'll be great!

I did not have to do a bowel prep, just no eating or drinking after midnight. Good luck with everything.
