Protein bars
I carry those too. Babybels eventually require refrigeration... I do carry almonds. Not as high protein as some protein bars. I stay away from the protein bars that taste really good... too much temptation ;). I figure if they are tempting, probably dangerous.
And I also have Syntrax packets. Those work in a pinch... just don't stay in my pouch for long.
I have to agree with you...
I have read it from the VETS quite a few times.
My weight loss centre told us to stay away from them.
They are high in calories & have a lot of stuff that we should not be eating post RNY.
I always bring my Premiere Protein shakes, water & yogurt if I get stuck away from home.

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
Do you have a trader joes or winco... they both carry Quest bars. I make cookies out of them versus eat them as bars though... 8 cookies from 1 bar (2 is a perfect portion for me) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/07/quest -protein-bar-cookies.html
Thanks, I'll try this. I want a little something to have with my tea is all. Lol. I don't eat a whole bar ever...been eating a half to a third depending on the size/calories, comes to about 100 calories. I will try these cookies! I don't find it a trigger. Salty snack foods are my downfall.

My rule of thumb for a protein bar is 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories - so a 200 calorie bar should have 20 (or more) grams of protein.
Also, sugar needs to be less than 9 grams per serving.
If it doesn't meet these requirements it's not a "protein bar" (for me) but a glorified marketed candy bar.
I also find eating 1/2 a protein bar works for me. It's just an old habit to eat ALL the protein bar (just like I used to eat ALL the candy bar.)
Your mileage may vary, but this helps me say "no" to most bars.
