First nurtitionist visit
I tried posting this on Monday and it kept messing up- after asking some questions I think I may have figured out the problem. So I am gonna try this again.
Well I met with my nutritionist for the first time Monday. At first, I was worried because I was running late (got held up at work), but I walked in at exactly 2 PM (which was my appointment time). Then had a little mishap with the computer connections (had to do meeting through Skype because the nutritionist was off site in San Antonio)...after about 30 minutes of playing with the connections and failing to connect I had told the nurse that we could just reschedule.. she told me "no you came here, we are having this meeting" and left the room. Came back with her cell phone so I face timed with the nutritionist LOL. (which was ok in my book.... my husband was a little upset about it).
Anyways, I have to go back and see her in 2 weeks- return visit February 6, 2017. She wants me to start a 2 week diet to "detox my body". Here is my diet:
Breakfast: 1 protein shake (protein (greater than 20g, carbohydrates less than 15g and sugarless than10g.) mix with water, skim milk or almond milk.
Lunch: 4 oz lean protein, 2 handfuls of veggies, 1/4 cup of starch
Dinner: 1 protein shake (protein (greater than 20g, carbohydrates less than 15g and sugarless than10g.) mix with water, skim milk or almond milk.
Optional snacks in between (pick one): 1 cup of fruit with 1 TBS nut butter or nuts/seeds,100 calorie greek yogurt and 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 protein bar, 2 hard boiled eggs, 1-100 calorie pack of mixed nuts, or 1 string cheese with 3 slices of deli meat
starting weight: 421 lbs with BMI 72.3- lets see what the numbers show in 2 weeks.
Other rules: must drink 64 oz minimum of water a day; may use water enhancers. only 1 cup of coffee and 1 cup of tea a day and no drinking while eating (wait 15 minutes if possible after).
I found myself having to fight the urge to drink while I eat. But I have told my supervisor everything that I am going through and she is the one I usually eat lunch with so I have someone else to tell me "no put your glass down" LOL. I have even gotten to the point of if I catch my self picking up my glass, I put it right back down.
anyway, i have been sticking to my diet and according to my house scale, I have lost 10 lbs so far- which a majority of it i know is water weight. But I will keep on tracking all that I eat and sticking to my diet plan.
Not having a glass of a drink within my reach while I eat is an easy way not to drink while I eat. If eating out- my partner puts it to the end of the table by his side if that was needed. Same as bread any any other food I may mindlessly grab as I am talking with friends.
Good luck on your journey.

When I go out I just don't order a drink. The looks I get, you'd think I had two heads!! LOL
Fight that urge as much as you can, it is still hard for me at over 8 months post-op. I started the practice 1 year ago today at my first nutritionist appointment, coincidentally, and it's still a challenge.
Keep up the great work, you're on the way to a healthier you!

I got so tired of the 'huh, whaaa' looks when we go out that I just ask for ice water and put it near my hubby. He usually drinks some so it looks partially empty, and I don't look so abnormal to the waitstaff. Not that I don't look weird when I order my meal + a box, without the starch, etc,etc :)

I drink enough outside of meals. I figure I have no business with a glass at the table. Eventually it becomes second nature. Good luck
