Medication Question for RNY
I opened all three caps into a little Lifeway plain kefir. I added some stevia. It helped but a bit. I can't wait until Wednesday!
Hopefully the kefir won't make my blood sugar rise too much. I just can't win.

If you are using plain kefir, it is no worse than eating a liitle yogurt. I actually an using it right now because I am on an antibiotic, and I mix a liitle SF peach syrup in it like Torani. So good.

So, obviously follow your doctor's advice. I have been taking pills since day 2 after surgery. I'm not allowed to take anything bigger than an M&M either. My dr. even told me I could take tylenol pills 2 weeks after surgery. What was important, is taking them one at a time and with time between them. So I start taking my nighttime meds at 7pm and finish by 9 - giving about 15 - 20 minutes between them.
Please be careful, some meds are not supposed to be broken up or blended, "tiny little balls that don't dissolve ". Check with your pharmacist on these meds, I take Cymbalta and was advised NOT to crush or blend the contents of the capsule. I had my dr. change my prescription to a smaller dose but take 2 capsules. They were smaller in size, so I could easily swallow them and still got my proper dose.
Thankfully your date to swallow bigger pills is almost here, good luck!!

Wow. I was swallowing pills after 3 weeks. I'm having no issues and I take about 10 pills a day for various things. My fish oil is a horse pill.
I have been dealing with the same issue, surgery date was 1/23/17 and I take two blood pressure meds, two ssris and two allergy meds daily. One of these is an extended release, so I got "permission" to take it whole for the first time yesterday. it didn't want to slide right down, but it wasn't horrible. I've been cutting them into small pieces then doing the applesauce thing successfully for three days now.
the only pill I wasn't taking the regular way when I got home from the hospital was ursodiol (Actigall). I think it was 2 or 3 weeks before I could take that one normally. But the rest I just swallowed normally. Although you should probably follow your surgeon's instructions. Mine was OK with it, but I know not all are.
