Good morning Menu Crew.  How is everyone?  I am tired.  My work is incredibly busy and its draining the life out of me.  I am so tired.  I have an appt on Monday to get blood work to see where my Iron levels are at, had my last infusion 2 weeks ago so I don't think that it, I think I am just plain old fashioned too busy & too tired.

Check this out... yesterday hubby texts me this pic, its Maple Bacon cupcakes with candied bacon on top. One of the Jurors he sits with on the trial her husband is a Baker and weekly she brings in goodies for the other Jurors.  Yesterday was these cupcakes!  AND the husband gave her a separate Tupperware of candied bacon dipped in chocolate "just in case anyone wanted extra candied bacon." Who the hell would not want extra candied bacon!!!! What the hell?  How do I get this gig? Hubby and the other Jurors are having way too much fun considering they are Jurors on a Murder Trial! LOL  Below are the amazing looking cupcakes!   So this leads me to my question of the day...

QOTD: When you go to a party or to a work function or an event and someone has made or brought your FAVOURITE FOOD and I mean your all time favourite food that makes your mouth water right now just thinking about it what do you do?  Could be sweet or savory, dessert or a main course, fresh bread with butter?  Do you avoid? Do you sample and stop at one bite? Or do you have at it b/c its your favourite and dammit you are having it! Sweets were and still are my downfall.  I really crave sweet (for the record newbies my first 18 months post surgery I hated sweet, it was gross to me and I was happy b/c I thought having the surgery got rid of my sweet tooth, well NOPE, it came back and with a vengeance!!!)  I don't dump so I can and have eaten sweets & treats.  For me and the fat girl that still lives in my head I do have some of whatever it is that is served that I love, I just have one or two bites and it totally "satisfies" me. With those cupcakes pictured above I probably would have asked someone to split one with me and then only had a bite or two, plus although I don't dump on sugar/carbs I do get RH so a bite or two would be all I can handle.

Time since surgery: 3 yrs + 2 months

B: can of tuna with red pepper + balsamic

L: 3oz of tandoori chicken over some salad greens + hot sauce (take out from place across from work)

S: 1/4 cup of dry roasted peanuts

D: 1/2 cup of taco seasoned ground beef with shredded cheese & sour cream

S: greek yogurt + bran buds + 4 slices of deli turkey breast + honey mustard before bed

TOTALS: 915 calories, 114 protein, 33 carbs

V: patches are on

L: coffee all day + water with SF cranberry juice

E: hike the dogs when I get home from work and planning on getting to bed really early tonight!

Reminder! Photo Friday tomorrow - Post your "Beach Vacation Theme Pics"

Be fabulous today

OMG - those cupcakes!!!!!

QOTD: I would definitely have a small portion of my favorite thing if at a function. It is actually safer for me to do it when other people are around and the food isn't in my house because I can stop (peer pressure sort of).  However if that food was in my house I have a terrible time handling it (like the cheesecake in my house this week that DH finally finished).  I too have an incredible sweet-tooth.  When I didn't care about my weight I would secretly buy donuts and baked goods and eat them all myself (hiding any leftover though that was rare because I would eat until I didn't feel good). So in a way I think it is good for my psyche to periodically treat myself IN PUBLIC ONLY.

B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: pork tenderloin

S: protein waffle, cheese sticks

Are your protein waffles homemade?

I really should call them low carb vs protein.  Kairk posted the recipe recently:

So does it actually taste good? I tried a high protein/low carb waffle recipe last week- looked great out of the waffle iron but took 2 bites and I was like- not worth it, tasteless cardboard....

The consistency and taste are different.  I like them, but I'm not sure everyone would?

I typically would say no thanks.  People have become used to me saying no.  Until this morning. . .  the attorney sitting next to me brought in cannolis and asked if I wanted one.  At first I said no.  When he asked if I was sure, the words "I'll take it" came out of my mouth.  I had two bites and now I'm done with it.  I don't know what has come over me lately, that's so out of character for me!!

QOTD:  Well obviously I am having it!  Lol hopefully I can change this habit after surgery.  Even now though while I am trying to change habits, when someone brings something I feel like I should be able to eat what everyone else is eating.  I know I don't need to but definitely have a food addiction.  At least now I am working on portion control when I do have something.  I am hoping that sweets make me sick after surgery because they are my weakness.  My plan is to assume I will be dreadfully sick and stay away from them without testing it.

Breakfast:  Premier Protein Shake

Lunch: Oikos triple zero yogurt and moon cheese

Dinner:  I have to make baked spaghetti tonight to bring to work tomorrow so I will make one for my family as well.  But will use portion control or just try eating the sauce and cheese without the noodles.

Exercise:  walking with my family this evening

HOLY CRAP THOSE CUPCAKES!!  we have a donut shop a couple towns over that does fresh donuts with chocolate and bacon on top...I avoid that place because they're just so damn delicious.

Anywhoo....Good morning everyone!

I woke up early this morning, I think because my face is uncomfortable....it doesn't hurt, it just feels really weird with all these brackets and such from my shiny new braces.   The first thing I did when I got up was brush my teeth.  Getting them put on wasn't too bad, I didn't like the part where they blasted my teeth with sand to clean them before applying the primer stuff, that part was gross and afterwards it felt like I'd licked a beach.   I've definitely already learned that eating with these is a challenge haha....I tried eating green peas yesterday and then spent about 20 minutes picking green stuff out of the brackets and don't even get me started on what it takes to actually floss now!!  My sister is home from the hospital, I talked to her yesterday when she was on her way home and she called me brace face...and told me she's waited years to say it .  I love her to pieces, and we should have results on her biopsy back in a few days.   Today I'll putter around the house, I want to get all my bariatric stuff organized into a binder for easy reference later....and I need to tackle the never-ending pile of laundry.   I swear if I could afford to hire someone to do Laundry, Floors, and Bathrooms I would be a happy camper....but until I fall into a barrel of spending money I'll just do it myself.

QOTD: So for me, I love crunchy and salty things....Cheetos are my favorite horrible party food.  Lucky for me, I can't have them anymore with my metal mouth, and I'm ok with this.  My hubby's work will often have family days where they cater food, but they always have healthy options and those are the ones that I'll gravitate towards going forward.  Because I'm not a sweets fan it's easy to avoid the dessert table when there's cookies and cupcakes, but cheesecake....that's a tough one for me.

MENU:

I'm still leaning towards soft foods!

B: Coffee w/FF 1/2 and 1/2, Premier Protein Shake

S: babybel cheese, cut up apple

L: Cream of Wheat w/unflavored protein powder

S: Egg Salad

D: Soup

E: Walking

have a great day guys!
