Next stop: SURGERY DAY!!!
I have creeped on this website for awhile, and haven't really been vocal on here. But today I'm hoping to change that.
I am am currently 23 years old and a single mommy to twin girls who will be three in April. I started my journey towards WLS last April and have FINALLY received a surgery date of 3/1/17, with my preop liquid diet beginning on 2/8/17. I'm so anxious and nervous and ready for this journey! I am fairly "healthy" except for having sleep apnea, and of course my weight being beyond ridiculous for my height. I'm doing this to avoid medical issues in the long run, to be able to run with my babies, and be happy and TRULY healthy.
So any advice/words of wisdom/ must haves for a newbie like me? I know this next month will fly by!

WELCOME! The best thing you can do is read old posts. The search function on this site (the little magnifying glass in the blue bar at the top of the page) will answer so many of the questions you might have.
My best advice is to follow the weight loss surgery rules....forever.
The biggest culprit in weight gain is drinking with your meals, so don't. The second is "carb creep" and becoming lax in controlling what we eat.
It is very important to weigh and measure your food and then stop eating. We obese folks really have no clue what a proper portion looks like. Use the time when you are first out of surgery to retrain yourself to be satisfied with the amount you measure. NO SECONDS.
Remember that hunger is NOT an emergency. Eat by the clock. Nothing bad will happen to you if you wait until your next scheduled meal to eat, even if you feel hungry.
Getting your head in the game is much harder than the surgery. Many of us consult a therapist to learn coping skills that don't involve food.
You can and will gain weight if you try to blaze your own trail where food is concerned. Don't trust your stomach to tell you when you are full. That little bast**d has lied to you for your whole life, telling you to eat when you know you shouldn't. Don't believe it.
DRINK YOUR WATER AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!!!! This is not optional.
Stick around here and ask questions. We want you to succeed!
Join us over on the daily menu thread....It's a great way to get to know the people here and it really helps to just share your meals (and get ideas from others on what might be good foods to try!) I'm heading to surgery in a couple of weeks, I go for my pre-op on 2/2....I'm a mommy too and one of my biggest goals is to be able to keep up with my very active 5yr old!

You've gotten some good advice here. I want to add...
Take some "before" photos...and a photo at every ten pounds lost. This will help you see the changes taking effect, even when your brain can't seem to grasp them.
Take some "before" measurements. When you hit a stall on the scale, measure yourself. You'll find, most of the time, that if you're not losing weight, you're losing inches/cm.
You don't have to weigh yourself every day. If you do, and you notice a stall, remember the comment above about inches/cm.
You can do this!!! Just keep telling yourself that. Those babies are so much more important than any food you have ever eaten. Follow the rules, and you'll feel so much better!
Good luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
