Question regarding rate of weight Loss
As always, NYMom has a plethora of knowledge. This is what I was referring to when I said that the honeymoon is over.

Everyone loses differently. I would say if you are measuring and weighing your food and keeping carb low and protein high AND are keeping liquid numbers high you will lose. Also make sure you are pooping. I stayed clear of all fruit/whole grains until I was at goal then am allowing them as I needed to get weight off ASAP. You will find the longer you stick around that the 'nut' isn't always right. They likely have not had our surgery nor do they know what it feels like to be inside our post surgery bodies.
I think I averaged 1-2 pounds a week. When you see the weight loss on the tickers for other people, it includes the weight lost before surgery.

I gotta figure how to edit my post. I lost 4 pounds a week the first couple of months. I exercised a lot. After month 3, it was down to 1-2 pounds a week.

No bread. No rice. No fruit. Low-glycemic veggies only after protein and healthy fats are consumed.
Don't just count sugar grams. A piece of bread, for example, has only about 1.5 g of sugar... but about 15 g of carbs total. Carbs are carbs. Your doctor should not be allowing that many carbs at this time... even now, more than 5 years out, I only do 50-100 g of carbs a day depending on the time of year.
And what is going into your smoothies? Milk sugar is still sugar/carbs. Yogurt sugar is still sugar/carbs. Fruit sugar is still sugar/carbs. Honey is still sugar/carbs.
If you are going to be serious about this, do your research. If your doctor wants to court malpractice and refuses to follow the guidelines of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, you have to take the bull by the horns and do it yourself.

I am not a doctor, but I play one at work.
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then on full liquids for 2 weeks. I was able to start pureed foods after that for a MONTH! Then a month of soft foods. My taste for foods changed, the texture of foods made me gag sometimes, so I lost pretty easily the first few months. I had my surgery on September 26th and have only been eating a regular diet for a month. I hate protein drinks and powders so I have to eat my protein. I also agree not to compare yourself to other people. We are all put together differently, are at different ages and have different metabolisms, diet requirements and needs. I rarely have "any" bread and if I do it is one or two bites, fill up on protein if you have any room left put in a healthy green veggie. Take advantage of not being hungry, I heard the hunger comes back. Best of luck!

Keep in mind too that the bigger you are the faster you fall. :) you did not start as big as some of us, and I have noticed that those with less weight to lose do it more slowly. People at my clinic (other patients) are impressed with my rate of loss because it's usually aster than theirs. But I almost always started out a lot bigger than they did. I have lost almost 90 pounds in less than five months...but I still weigh more than your starting weight, lol.

No bread, rice or sugar. Protein, protein, protein. I am quite a bit further out than you - my surgery was in Sept and I still don't eat any fruit at all. Carbs are a no-no. Just a few bites and you will want more. I know it might sound boring but drop almost everything but your protein and water (or whatever your equivalent to water is). I hated sweetners but I hated being fat more. I am no used to the sweetner taste and can live with it just fine. No sugar!
Read the lunch menus each day that are posted to help you figure out whats best.
Good luck!

I agree about the smoothies and fruit. I have limited fruit because of all of the sugar. Small amounts of fruit are good, veggies are better and protein is always first!
I found (I'm 4 days RNY before you) that I usually hit a slow loss time when I'm constipated. Constipation is a fact of life with RNY. Take Miralax when you need it and beyond. I'v started taking Ducolax when I go 3 days without. Of course, talk to your doctor!
I have still yet to have a piece of fruit!!! Not for the lack of wanting a strawberry and a grape, though! HAHAHA
