Morning Menu Crew! How is everyone? I am good. It still grey, damp and overcast here. Man I would really like to see some Sun! Or some snow, that at least makes everything look white & pretty. And speaking of Sun, I have an idea for Photo Friday, let's post your favourite beach vacation picture! If you don't have a beach vacation pic then one from your last vacation picture you love, but the "theme" will be beach vacation pics! Sound good?
QOTD: What food grosses you out now post surgery? What did you eat a ton of before surgery and now can't stand? For me its cottage cheese. Oh man I ate that stuff by the boat load pre surgery and I mean boat load because it was "diet" food right? And then part of my "soft food" diet post op was cottage cheese. So I ate a lot of that with protein powder mixed in. Not sure if it was because my taste buds have changed or by putting the protein powder in it but it ruined it for me. Now post surgery I can't even stand the smell or taste or to even look at it gives me the grossies! Oddly pre surgery I was not a yogurt fan, I could take it or leave it, now I love yogurt and eat one almost every day. Strange how our tastes change post surgery.

we're supposed to get a huge dump of snow, but nothing happened yet, despite the predictions it would land before the morning commute...I think hubby is planning to work from gone today.
qotd: I've been trying to think of something, but I don't think there's any food that really grosses me out post op. I'm also one of those people who's taste buds didn't really change. Except maybe I like sweeter drinks now, like mio.
But, what I realize I am struggling with is seeing the portions that people eat on the regular. I have to work hard to look like I don't notice.
Menu
B: protein shake
L: tuna or egg salad with a couple of veggies
D: tbd. Not sure with the weather if I'll head to the grocery store, or dig out something from the freezer.
i added a snack yesterday, because when I get back from the gym, I'm usually a bit hungrier, so I have lunch earlier than usual. And the stretch between lunch and dinner is kind of long, but I didn't need it yesterday. I'll see how today goes, but I might start adding a snack regularly, just in case, and only eat it if I need it.
is that what you guys do? I just don't want to get in the habit of eating more, just because.

I agree. Portion sizes are the hardest thing to wrap my head around. I pack these teeny tiny salads with me (under a cup). Last weekend we went out to Bertucci's and I ordered a salad that came to the table in a bowl that was at least 12" round. I can't believe anyone is possible of cleaning that plate!

When I first started this journey, the first thing the NUT told me to do was add a mid-afternoon snack. Now, I try to eat small planned high protein meals every 2-3 hours to keep from getting too hungry and it is working well. If I'm out, I throw a couple of low-fat protein sticks on my purse (100 calories which really take the edge off hunger).

I always plan for two additional snacks. Sometimes I am not even hungry, but there is no way to hit 80g of protein without them since my others meals are so small. Although I did devour a huge portion of steak last night... :)

Funny I'm the opposite. If I didn't plan better, I'd eat 90% of my calories before noon. I had to set timers on my phone for awhile so that I'd space it out correctly. After noon I'm never as ravenous as I am before noon...

I am the exact same Kelly, I can go hours after waking up and not be "hungry" as of late I have been eating breakfast at lunch time or even skipping breakfast (just having coffee) and eating lunch at 2pm. I am just not hungry. But because I do a lot in the evenings, hike the dogs I tend to eat more of my calories after lunch to the evening time, so weird right!
