Tips for thinning hair

Who's a hair person? I'm no good with hair. My hair was thin before surgery. Fine too, wispy. I have a little longer than chin length cut with lots of layers, which helps a lot if I get it trimmed back up often eno?ugh. I'm thinking about bangs. What do you think? I kind of have a giant forehead. Lol. Any product recommendations? It looks nice when I oomph the layers with a large curling iron but my hair doesn't hold it well, especially in summer humidity.

I have always thought that a side-sweeping bang is much better than the "curl with a curling iron to cover the whole forehead" bangs. :)

After losing what feels like half the volume of hair on my head -- three months of heavy shedding! -- I found this Ogx Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner. The bottle says it has a "Unique blend of sulfate free surfactants to create thicker, fuller looking hair." I really does feel a bit thicker after just a couple of washes. However, I didn't start using it until I stopped losing hair. Bonus, it smells fantastic! :D

I got it at Publix, but I think I've seen it in most grocery stores and Walmart. I think it's pretty easy to find.

Hi Cathy,

I too am losing a ton of hair.  I'm about a month into the losing phase.  I truly don't have enough to get through another 2 months of this.  I am fortunate to have very curly hair, so I have been parting it on the side, to cover the right side of my head (the worst for hair loss, bald spot).  Then I put curl gel in it and scrunch it up.  Maybe you could do the curling iron and gel the curls to hold them? This really sucks, but hopefully it will be over soon.  I also take 10000 mg of Biotin daily and have been for several years.  I can already see new growth about a half inch long.  I take the Biotin because I've  been through this before.  I lost alot of hair 5 yrs ago from another surgery.  It does grow bacl.

1.  Not a hair person but White Dove is and may offer some suggestions if she sees this  2. I think wispy bangs look better than heavy bangs  3. Recommend Nioxin which I closely watch for on sale stacked with a coupon at JCPenney Salons (just scored a 1-litre value size shampoo and conditioner set--system 3-- for $20).

After getting some thinning hair, I added Biotin supplement to my diet and using Biotin shampoo.

After 3 weeks, I do see an improvement and the thinning spots are not as noticeable.

I hear does not always work for everyone, based on reason of hair loss, but it works for me.

I use Nioxin also and I really love it.  So far though I haven't noticed much loss - when does that usually start? I even cut my hair to a shorter length in anticipation of losing some hair.

The serious hair loss seems to start at around month 3 or 4 for a lot of people.
