What's on your Menu today (Monday) RNYers?
Hi Pam, below the recipe I posted last Monday.
I also use London Broil. If you want it more leathery slice it real thin. I generally cut mine between 1/8'' and 1/4'' and it's less leathery.
Set it on 160 degrees for 6 to 8 hours. It's also important to blot the meat of excess marinade before putting the meat on the trays or it will take longer to dry out. I will say some people chose to skip this step as it somewhat time consuming. It goes quicker when I recruit my niece or nephew to help me. They like getting paid in jerky! LOL!
You want to make enough marinade to have a little extra in bag that it's marinating in. Most people have their meat mostly submerged in the marinade.
Please know there are many kinds if recipes for jerky including ones the use whiskey or brandy etc....
The ingredients I use are:
Low sodium soy sauce
A real good splash of A1 sauce
A real good splash of Lea & Perrins low sodium Worcestershire
A touch of teriyaki sauce
1/4 to 1/2 bottle or can of beer
A couple of squirts of hot sauce(depends on how spicy you like it) **Optional**
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Black pepper
Whisk it all together and adjust until you like the taste!
Put the meat in a large Ziploc bag and poor the marinade over the meat, zip it up and move the bag around distributing the marinade. Be sure that all of the meat is exposed to the marinade.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Good morning. I am headed to my dietican this morning and then grocery shopping. I am a morning person. I am usually up by 4 am and in bed by 8pm. I like my quiet time in the mornings.
I had a nice weekend. I was 2 months out from surgery yesterday. I already feel like I have changed in so many ways.
My food plan for today is-
B-shredded pork with jalepenos
L- not sure since I will be in town. I am thinking 4 grilled nuggets from Chick Filla
D-baked cod
S- possibley a shake to bump up protein numbers.
Have a great day everyone.
I like the quiet time in the morning too. I don't like it when someone else in the house gets up as early and tries to talk to me. My preference is 2 hours of alone time.

hey yall
quickie for me today. Saturday I ran grocery errands, I also planted tulips in our mailbox bed and hoping i didn't plant them too late but I have a feeling I did. I also for the first time in my life did it all alone. I went to home depot and got the compost, vermiculite and peat moss, mixed it all up myself in a bin, lifted the 50 pound bags of manure. I was pretty gosh darn proud of myself. My DH was a landscape designer for over 20 years before he went back to school so it was quite an accomplishment also for him to let me do it.
My weight WILL NOT MOVE! I'm getting so annoyed = 126 today - hey scale aren't you supposed to be moving down??? sheesh
Sunday we hung around here- got dish network installed int he morning and I slept till 11 then did stuff around hte house.
QOTD: I'm a night person, DH is a morning person. I HATE waking in the morning and used to get really mad when someone work me up. I'm getting better about it and since I've lost a ton of weight, it is easier to get up now that before.
food for today:
lots and lots of decaf coffee and miralax. wondering if that is part of my problem so im going to dose myself heavy the next few days.
in the fridge I have turkey chili, egg whites, salad and coleslaw mix for salad making. this is likely what I will eat today.
OH- I mentioned in saturday's post, GNC has marked down a ton of quest and their lean brand bars. I got a lot for .40 something cents. Plus when you sign up for the rewards card they give you $5 credit. Just FYI
Wow. I know you're down south, but up here, bulbs need to go in during September.
I finally started some flower seeds over the weekend. I got tired of buying annuals every spring, and seeds are a lot cheaper.

Yes, I should have had the tulips in by the end of Dec latest. So they probably won't come up.
I have flower seeds in the 'little greenhouse' -marigolds but if i'm successful I will do others. Would ideally like to have a little container garden along with my veg garden this year, but keep reading books so I don't kill them all!!
I was shocked. I looked this morning, and some of the geraniums were blooming already, even though I just started the seeds on Saturday. Very exciting.

Indoors. I could never get anything to grow outside in Massachusetts this time of year. I'm extremely confident that I'll kill all of these before I ever get them planted outside. They say to wait until May to plant outdoors here.
