"they keep saying i shouldnt get it and its the  easy way out

This is such a load of horse **** Nothing about this is easy.

You've done the research, you've followed your surgeons instructions, you've been tested and you're ready to take the next step. Don't let other peoples fears become your fears. You're ready, you got this!!

My RNY procedure was this past Monday on January 16th.  Last Sunday night I was feeling really anxious and nervous too (even had some panicked last minute thoughts about cancelling the surgery)!

I think my biggest fear was the fear of the unknown .... how much pain would I experience, would the surgery adversely affect my health in the long run, etc?

It's always super scary to take a big such a big leap into an unknown realm - such as surgery (even when it's the best decision).

Let me tell you that I was also scared to NOT have the surgery because I felt as though I would be stuck spending the rest of my life being unhealthy and obese.

I'll be thinking of you and praying for you tonight and in the coming months.  The other folks on this site and I are eager to be a positive support system for you.

I'm a newbie to all of this and still have a lot to learn, but this I know ... You are stronger than you think you are and can believe in yourself!

Yes, it is super normal to be nervous.  I can relate.  I wrote my living will prior to surgery.  You will do just fine.  I will be thinking of you.  Originally I was supposed to undergo the roux-en-y but due to previous abdominal surgery the surgeon opted for the sleeve.  Thankful I was able to have that ... may have not been able to do either.

Oh my goodness it's so normal to be this nervous. I only had surgery the end of October .  I remember lying on the table in the surgery room looking up at the light. I was so close to saying stop!  I change my mind!  I'm so happy I didn't.  This surgery was the best decision I've made for my health. Good luck, it's just nerves

It's normal to be nervous... My goodness, who wouldn't be nervous. But I'm sure you will do fine. You've done your homework, you have good physicians working for you, and you can do this! I had my surgery on October 20, three months ago. I can truly say this has been the best decision of my life. My diabetes is gone. I'm off all diabetic medication about ready to go off all blood pressure medication and high cholesterol meds.  I've lost 85 pounds in three months and feel better than I have in years. I have more energy, more stamina, and more life. It's not the easy way out, believe me.  You've made your decision, the decision that's best for you, and you need to let your family know they can either support you or not say anything. You need their support, not their criticism. Although  i'm sure the criticism is only because they're concerned for you. Time will prove to them that you have made the right decision for you. Best of luck tomorrow and in the days and weeks and months to come. The time goes so quickly and soon you will be posting your marvelous results and successes. Blessings to you!

Hell yes, it's normal to be nervous! I was ****tin my pants!! I have heart issues with 3 stents in one artery, I had high blood pressure, I was diabetic taking 5 shots a day! It was the best decision I ever made. I had surgery on 9/28/16(my 25th wedding anniversary) and I'm down almost 90lbs.

There will always be people that say the surgery is the easy way out. There is NOTHING EASY about the surgery and losing the weight. It is a tool that will help you but you have to do all the work .

I wish you the best of luck with everything.

We have all been through this and everyone of us had atleast alittle bout with nerves.  I was more exited than nervous because I knew I wouldnt live another 10 years with my current life style.  You will have to put an end to your family and their comments.  Do not let them get into your head.  You need the support and not negativity.  We are all here for you.
