Aww Karen I am so sorry to hear about Lily.  As you know we went through almost the same thing with Amy recently. She is doing amazing and is cancer free due to the Vet getting such great margins. Lily is going to do great and be back to her lovely super fun self in no time. The hardest part is getting them to sit still so they can heal!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do or if you need to chat.

BIG HUGS to you & Lily

QOTD:  I didn't do AMAW/CAMAW this week but I did increase my protein a bit - 139 grams yesterday!!  And yes - I definitely feel more "full" when I'm eating a lot of protein.  Healthy fats and fiber help, too - but protein really does the trick!!

I have to head over to my bariatric clinic in about an hour because I'm talking to another pre-op class.  I love, love, love doing this, and fortunately they booked me eight times for the coming year, because knowing I'm doing these helps keep me on track (as does OH - and especially, this menu board!!).  I wish I could get even more involved with my bariatric clinic - like help with the info seminars or something - but maybe after I retire.....

eating is a little weird today because lunch time is sort of broken up because of the class (so I'll eat a L&F yogurt before class to tie me over until I get back to my office c. 1:00 pm).  Then I'm meeting DH at a Mexican place for dinner.  There are days I'd love to just have Greek yogurt and cottage cheese and protein shakes because I love all that and it's so easy to keep within all my limits, but I do have to deal with real life!!!

19 months out

B:  homemade plain Greek yogurt, NSA blackberry/blueberry sauce

S:  double SF protein/Miralax mocha latte, coffee with half & half

L1:  L&F Greek yogurt

L2:  probably a hard-boiled egg

D:  fajita at the Mexican place (I only eat the meat & veggies - about a cup altogether)

exercise - sprained ankle is much better, but I'm going to hold off a couple more days on exercise so I don't re-injure it.  Possibly yin yoga or water aerobics over the weekend - they should be gentle on that ankle, I would think.....

That is so awesome that you are able and willing to speak to the WLS classes!!! I would love to do something like that as well, however my doctor's office doesn't use patients in their support groups (and if they do, I don't know about it)...

Good Morning and TGIF!   Raining here in So Cal today.  We are supposed to get a good bit of rain.

I missed the last two days posting, but I have stuck to my AMAW.

Started walking on my lunch the other day, but with the rain here I will need to hit the gym tonight.

Breakfast:  Turkey sausage

Snack: Turkey roll up.

Lunch: Marinated Steak Strips.

Dinner: Asian Chicken with ginger and soy

Snack: Turkey Pepperoni.

Water: On track.

Vitamins: Nightly the last few nights, since I have been rushed to get out in the morning.

Exercise: 30-60 mins nightly.    Going to start doing yoga at home, get comfortable and join a class.   I need something to help take my focus off of some stress going on.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning everyone. The forums have been so active it's been hard to keep up with it all! Launched the dehydrator for it's maiden voyage yesterday and the results look pretty good. Any hints on how to tell when it's done? I watched a few Youtube videos but they were pretty vague. I didn't try any myself because it's been challenge enough to get my planned food in (craziness) but he "sampled" several pieces so I'm guessing it's good. Leaving for groceries soon, steak will be on the menu for dinner and I'm really looking forward to it.

QOTD My surgery was two months ago tomorrow and prior to this week I was basically CAMAW anyway because I am so early post op. So for this week I decided to challenge myself to get away from the protein shakes and go AMAW. I was right, it was a challenge. Not depending on the shakes for 20+ grams of protein required more planning and more eating, and not drinking coffee meant I was drinking a lot more water. I have my doubts that the scale will thrill me this week though. I'm coming off of two weeks of good losses and since surgery my cycle has been completely out of whack I have strong suspicions it will have an impact on tomorrows weigh in. Overall an interesting week though. It's great to see the success that everyone else is having and going forward it's good knowing how effective an all meat week can be at refocusing your eating plan. Congrats to you all!

B - lemon pepper tuna

L - leftover chicken

D - steaks of some kind tbd - tri tip!!

S - 2 turkey bites

Have a great Friday and an even better weekend everyone!!

Fridays food

The steak was so good. Didn't eat this whole piece but it was yum.

Friday was the first day I managed to get my totals the same as my non AMAW days when I've included a protein shake. It's good to know I can do without them but I think I'll go back to one a day most days for a little while longer. Down 2.9 lbs since Monday.

When make jerky I hand cut all the meat, so they are all different sizes and thicknesses. Then it turns dark and starts to look dry, I will taste the little small bits and as I go I pull the thinner smaller ones. I like it still a little soft, but it is completely cooked. I can tell by looking at it, but I've made it many times now. Just keep checking it. My machine said 6 hours I think and I'm usually about 4 hours or so.

Thanks for responding. Yesterdays batch ended up being in there for 7 hours but the book that came with it said 3 hours on high and then reduce the temp to a medium range for a total of 6-15 hours. That's quite the window! I was just a little paranoid about under cooking it. I guess with more practice I'll get a better feel for it.
