Just overall grateful for my revision from band to rny

I'm not sure if I should count it as a nsv or just feeling so grateful that I'm almost 8 months out from having my band removed and feeling so normal with my pouch. I was so sick and in such pain .... I had gotten so used to so many things about my band over 6.5 years that I didn't realize just how much had changed. Just a tiny example was, this morning on my way to work, I had an extra cup in my cup holder and for a brief moment thought it was a good thing it was there in case I needed it to throw up in on my way.... now I know that sounds gross... but it had become such a necessary part of my daily life, that when I realized ... I don't need extra cups around anymore ... I just felt relieved .  Anyways , I love my new life so much, free from pain and being "stuck " and feeling panicked and embarrassed and hurrying from the dinner table with watery eyes trying to find a restroom while acting like I was just casually going to pee.... I was so afraid of rny .... silly me !

I had a revision from the band to rny 9/26/2016!  I'm not sure what I was afraid of, and wished I'd done it sooner.  I SO know the "casually going to pee" act!

Thanks Pammie yes I'm doing great I hover around the boards but don't really give much input .  I'm putting in a lot more hours at work .....  I work PRN at the hospital and at a surgery center and I guess people were trying to get a lot of procedures done before the end of the year since their deductibles were met so I've been a busy busy girl I am doing fine with my pouch my new doctor figured out that all my problems were coming from my gallbladder and now that it's gone I feel wonderful

I'm so glad you got that taken care of! Those gallbladders are the devil's work. I had mine taken out right after my son was born... it was awful having those attacks as a pregnant woman!

Check in when you have time!

Congrats, and your story exactly matches mine.

Not sick once since RNY, and my family is so happy with my new life, and involvement, rather than being sick and leaving gatherings to live in the bathroom. I am also enjoying physical activity and biking with no longer having to  throw up, or drop out of organized rides trips early that I paid for.

A million yesses to this post! I can't believe what I put up with for so long. I threw up in every bathroom, sink, vehicle, on the street, in the woods...

I still struggled with GERD after my revision for about 18 months, but I'm finally passed it. I'm fully caffeinated again with no pain for the first time in 7 years. Love my RNY!

So happy for you! Many more successes to come :)

OMG YES!!!!!

I think I really started to concern people around me with how COMPLETELY desensitized I became to throwing up!  I was like you, anywhere and any time.  I got really good at it too, I could just think about it and or cough once or twice and that's it...up it came.  I was so ready to have this revision and not constantly having to worry about foods getting stuck or the pain and pressure in my chest from it.  I was just like you, leaving the dining table dam near EVERY time to "wash my hands" which was a BIG LIE.

So grateful that its over and there were other options available to us!

I wish I had back the dollars I spent over the years on EDG scopes, and ER visits after getting food stuck and getting dehydrated.

That is not counting al the expensive meals I ate out, and just had to purge it later due to something not going thru.

Now I spend it on Bike equipment. Maybe not cheaper, but sure more fun. . .

Agree 100%! I couldn't be happier. I was scared to death of RNY and it does feel pretty silly right now.
