What's on your Menu Today (Thursday) RNYers - Day 4 of AMAW/CAMAW!

Good morning everyone. We were invited out to his parents house for dinner last night so we didn't end up making the jerky and my plan of tuna for dinner was changed to ground venison. The jerky will be made today and the venison was fantastic. I was a little hesitant because ground beef can get gross when I chew it so much but that wasn't the case with the venison. His parents had a lot of nice things to say about my weight loss but the best was that they repeatedly commended me on the effort and work I am putting into it. It felt so great for that to be acknowledged, far better than just commenting on the weight. When we went into the dining room for dinner I was expecting the same seating arrangements as we usually have which means I wait a moment for his dad to serve and take his seat or I just end up moving anyway. Instead his mom tells me to just switch places with his dad and I panic because his chair has....arms. Now they aren't the narrowest chairs out there but chair arms have notoriously been my archenemy. Deep breath and...I fit. Nothing pressing into my thighs, no discomfort, no fear of anything breaking. It wasn't spacious, I did touch a little, but during dinner I forgot about the arms all together, it was a win.
QOTD I haven't tried steak post op but I've been I lifelong fan and I'm feeling more confident that it would be well received. The ribs we had the other night were my favourite thing I've had in the past two months but before that my go to's have been shrimp, tuna, turkey and chicken. I've been sticking with them for convenience but all this steak talk has me wondering what I've been waiting for.
B - shrimp
L - pork ribs
D - chicken (probably in the crockpot with cajun seasoning)
S - 2 turkey bites
Totals 482 cal, 65g protein, 2g carbs
Yesterdays food...
I didn't eat the tuna but I did eat venison (not pictured because I wasn't taking my phone out at their dinner table)
Have a great day everyone! Christine

Awesome nsv! The other day I noticed I sat in one of the chairs in the waiting area at my son's piano lessons. They all have chairs, and in the past I just would stand there. Now I sit, easily, and the other day I sat between two other people, which o course I avoided like the plague in the past!

Morning! Foggy and wet here too...our homeschool co op was cancelled today because so many have been out sick, so I am home today and SO glad for that! I love it when time opens up like that...
oh my goodness, this week has been awesome! I'm just five months out and this is my first CAMAW, but it has been a magical thing. I'm not even kidding. So, after my surgery I gradually got to where I could eat better...more variety and just more easily. And over the holidays things slippd. I was eating pretty much whatever I wanted. Not much, portion wise, but definitely too many carbs, too much grazing. I didn't even realize it until this week but I lost the "feel" of that restriction from surgery to a large extent. And my weight loss s. talled for 3 weeks. This week has changed all that. I am eating very small amounts again because that's all I can tolerate of dense protein. I'm very full, always. I do have craving issues, and a headache today that I think is carb-related. But I have dropped several more pounds already, back to that
super amazing rate of weight loss, and I'm very motivated to keep up this carb-shunning after this week. I'm determined to be down 100 pounds by my 6 month check up!!
ok, that was long. ? It's nothing that no one here didn't tell me already, but I had to go reinvent the wheel I guess.
Dense protein faves---that pulled pork I made this week was awesome, and easy. I just put a pork roast in the crockpot all day with a bottle of those sliced pepperoncini peppers. Shreds up like a dream. The family eats it on sandwiches.
...breakfast- leftover eggs with sausage from yesterday.
lunch- 3 oz deli turkey and a babybell cheese
DInner- a bunless cheeseburger.
snack- Greek yogurt, another babybell.
Don't have totals yet...

I had a nutritional counseling call this morning - unrelated to my surgery - it's part of our "healthy eating program" at work. The first question - how many servings of fruits, vegetables and whole grains are you getting in a day. Servings? I said what is a serving to you? I can only eat a few tablespoons. "oh, that's not good at all" She was totally baffled by bariatric diets and really confused when I explained CAMAW. I'm not sure I will be continuing in the program. Just ate my meat stick chanting "meat, meat, meat." My cubemates are getting a kick from this!
So, that's the perfect example of unaware Nutritionists...
I do wish that more of the Bariatric Centers could find people that are qualified in specifically WLS nutrition!
Meat, Meat, Meat! I love it!!!

I'm here! We have been without power for the past 30 hours. I was unable to post yesterday. We have been hammered by this ice storm. My plan for today is-
3 ounces albacore tuna with light mayo
3 more ounces of tuna
baked cod
