6 weeks out needing HELP
It sounds like it depends on your doctor. I think every body is different. My doc had me transition into puréed foods pretty quick but that's just my doc. Not sure what most people do. Wish I had known about the carbs! Not that I've been pigging out or anything but rice cakes have been my go to snack (I just take tiny pieces and dissolve them in my mouth haha) but now that I know more about how they should be avoided I will be stopping that snack for sure. Congrats on your upcoming 1 month! In my opinion, it's a huge milestone :-)
You have been given good advice. Here is my bariatric center (St. Vincent Bariatric - Indianapolis, IN)
0-6 months: 600-800 calories, 40-60 gm. carbs, 60-80 grams protein
6-12 months: 800-1200 calories, 60-80 gm. carbs, 60-80 grams protein
12-18 months: 1100-1300 calories, 100-1300 gm. carbs, 80 grams protein
Maintenance: 1200-1400 calories, 130 gm carbs, 80 gm protein.
This plan worked for me until maintenance. I need to stay at 1000-1200 calories, 80 grams carbs (from milk, cheese, fruit, veggies) and I aim for 100 grams of protein daily.
I'll be 8 years post RNY in March. I'm currently 5 pounds above my goal weight and trying to work my way back to goal.
Best wishes, Penny
Here is the binder that is given to people getting WLS through Toronto Western Hospital. I have heard some follow it and some don't. It has a lot of information.
I hope this helps.
