Dr. recommended citrate but I got a plant-based liquid calcium. This was suggested by the health food clerk because it is better absorbed by the body than citrate. She already knew of the lower absorbency resulting of RNY surgery which is why recommended this form of calcium. Brand is Health First, Cal-Mag Supreme + K2. Here is an info link  http://healthfirstnetwork.ca/blog/is-aquamin-in-your-cal-mag/

too bad you couldn't get that clerk to do your surgery instead of using a qualified surgeon!

Found this site last night and signed up, this is my first post.  I am struggling with food choices and already reading the what is everyone eating is helping my will power.  I had RNY in July and I have been taking Vitafusion Calcium chewables since that point.  I reading more about it recently it looks like I should be taking citrate version instead.  Any comments or thoughts.

yes, you should be taking citrate, in dry form. There are versions in many drugstores as well as on line.

Dont trust anyone in a vitamin store for advice, you are smart to do the research yourself.
